Plus nombreux. Comme les Syriens entouraient toute la ville, il semble que les anges qui entouraient Elisée devaient être beaucoup moins nombreux que les Syriens, mais ils formaient une très épaisse muraille de défense autour de leur protégé. Cette vision accordée au serviteur d'Elisée à la demande du prophète représentait symboliquement une puissance protectrice infiniment supérieure à celle des assaillants. Elle était destinée à élever sa foi à la hauteur de celle de son maître qui pour lui-même n'avait pas besoin d'un pareil signe (comparez Jean 12.28-30).
