Priez aussi pour que nous soyons délivrés des sots et des méchants, des fanatiques et des hommes pervers. Car, hélas, tous n’ont pas la foi.
Priez aussi pour que nous soyons libérés des gens mauvais et méchants. En effet, tout le monde ne croit pas en Dieu.

Des persécuteurs, qui voulaient empêcher cette action puissante de la Parole divine qu'annonçait l'apôtre (voy. l'introduction et 2Thessaloniciens 1.6 suivants) ; peut-être aussi des hommes qui troublaient l'Eglise de Thessalonique au sujet du prochain retour de Christ. (2Thessaloniciens 2.2,3)

Ou "la foi n'est pas de tous," n'est pas un don que tous aient reçu, une disposition du cœur qui se trouve chez tous. L'Evangile est toujours ce filet qui ramasse toutes sortes de choses, bonnes et mauvaises. (Matthieu 13.47)

Or tout, dans la vie chrétienne, dépend de la foi ; sans elle, même au sein des Eglises, il peut se trouver des hommes déréglés et méchants.

En grec, le mot de foi signifie aussi fidélité, et, dans ce sens, l'apôtre établit ce contraste propre à consoler ses lecteurs : "tous n'ont pas la fidélité, mais le Seigneur est fidèle, qui..." (verset 3)
