Paul comprend tout particulièrement dans ce dernier vœu, outre son disciple bien-aimé, l'Eglise d'Ephèse qui lui était chère, et à laquelle Timothée communiquait sans doute les lettres de Paul. Combien ce dernier adieu dut être précieux à tous !
