1
The priests the Levites, all the tribe of Levi, shall have no portion nor inheritance with Israel: they shall eat the offerings of Yahweh made by fire, and his inheritance.
2
They shall have no inheritance among their brothers: Yahweh is their inheritance, as he has spoken to them.
3
This shall be the priests' due from the people, from those who offer a sacrifice, whether it be ox or sheep, that they shall give to the priest the shoulder, and the two cheeks, and the maw.
4
The first fruits of your grain, of your new wine, and of your oil, and the first of the fleece of your sheep, you shall give him.
5
For Yahweh your God has chosen him out of all your tribes, to stand to minister in the name of Yahweh, him and his sons for ever.
6
If a Levite comes from any of your gates out of all Israel, where he lives as a foreigner, and comes with all the desire of his soul to the place which Yahweh shall choose;
7
then he shall minister in the name of Yahweh his God, as all his brothers the Levites do, who stand there before Yahweh.
8
They shall have like portions to eat, besides that which comes of the sale of his patrimony.

9
When you have come into the land which Yahweh your God gives you, you shall not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
10
There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer,
11
or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
12
For whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahweh: and because of these abominations Yahweh your God does drive them out from before you.
13
You shall be perfect with Yahweh your God.
14
For these nations, that you shall dispossess, listen to those who practice sorcery, and to diviners; but as for you, Yahweh your God has not allowed you so to do.
15
Yahweh your God will raise up to you a prophet from the midst of you, of your brothers, like me. You shall listen to him.
16
This is according to all that you desired of Yahweh your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, "Let me not hear again the voice of Yahweh my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I not die."
17
Yahweh said to me, "They have well said that which they have spoken.
18
I will raise them up a prophet from among their brothers, like you; and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him.
19
It shall happen, that whoever will not listen to my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.
20
But the prophet, who shall speak a word presumptuously in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who shall speak in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die."
21
If you say in your heart, "How shall we know the word which Yahweh has not spoken?"
22
when a prophet speaks in the name of Yahweh, if the thing doesn't follow, nor happen, that is the thing which Yahweh has not spoken: the prophet has spoken it presumptuously, you shall not be afraid of him.

Moïse dit : Les prêtres-lévites et les autres gens de la tribu de Lévi ne recevront pas de terres en partage comme les autres Israélites. Pour se nourrir, ils auront les sacrifices offerts au SEIGNEUR et les autres biens qui sont pour lui.

Les lévites n’auront pas de territoire parmi les autres Israélites. Leur bien, c’est le SEIGNEUR, selon la parole qu’il leur a dite.

Les prêtres ont droit à une partie des animaux, bœufs ou moutons, que les Israélites offrent en sacrifice de communion. Vous devez leur donner l’épaule, les joues et l’estomac.
4
Vous leur donnerez aussi les premiers produits du sol : le blé, le vin nouveau et l’huile, avec la première laine des moutons que vous tondrez.
5
En effet, parmi toutes les tribus, le SEIGNEUR votre Dieu a choisi Lévi et ses fils, pour qu’ils assurent tous les jours le service du SEIGNEUR.

Voici ce qui peut arriver : Un lévite veut quitter la ville d’Israël où il habite. Il veut venir dans le lieu que le SEIGNEUR choisira.
7
Alors il peut faire son travail au service du SEIGNEUR son Dieu à cet endroit, comme les autres lévites qui sont dans le lieu saint.
8
Pour se nourrir, il a droit à la même part que les autres. Cela s’ajoute à l’argent qu’il reçoit s’il vend les biens de sa famille.
Faux prophètes et vrai prophète

Moïse dit : Quand vous serez arrivés dans le pays que le SEIGNEUR votre Dieu vous donne, vous n’apprendrez pas à imiter la conduite horrible de ces peuples-là.
10
On ne devra trouver parmi vous aucune des personnes suivantes : quelqu’un qui brûle son fils ou sa fille en sacrifice, qui pratique la magie, qui interroge les charlatans, qui lit dans le ciel, qui devine l’avenir, qui pratique la sorcellerie,
11
qui envoûte les gens, qui jette des sorts ou qui, d’une manière ou d’une autre, consulte les morts.
12
Ceux qui font cela, le SEIGNEUR votre Dieu les a en horreur. C’est pourquoi à votre arrivée, il chassera les habitants de ce pays.
13
Mais vous, attachez-vous de tout votre cœur au SEIGNEUR votre Dieu.
14
Les peuples que vous allez chasser écoutent les charlatans et ceux qui lisent dans le ciel. Le SEIGNEUR votre Dieu ne veut pas de cela pour vous.
15
Il vous enverra un prophète comme moi. Celui-ci fera partie de votre peuple, et c’est lui que vous écouterez.
16
C’est bien ce que vous avez demandé au SEIGNEUR votre Dieu, le jour où vous étiez rassemblés au mont Horeb. Vous avez dit : « Nous ne voulons plus entendre directement la voix du SEIGNEUR notre Dieu. Nous ne voulons plus voir ce grand feu. Nous ne voulons pas mourir ! »

Et le SEIGNEUR m’a dit : « Ils ont raison de parler ainsi.
18
Je leur enverrai un prophète comme toi. Ce sera quelqu’un de leur peuple. Je mettrai mes paroles dans sa bouche, et il leur dira tout ce que je lui commanderai.
19
Si quelqu’un n’écoute pas les paroles que ce prophète dira en mon nom, je le punirai moi-même.
20
Mais si ce prophète ose dire en mon nom un message que je ne lui ai pas donné, ou s’il parle au nom d’autres dieux, il devra mourir. »
21
Vous vous demanderez peut-être : « Comment reconnaître que ces paroles ne viennent pas du SEIGNEUR ? »
22
Eh bien, si le prophète a annoncé quelque chose au nom du SEIGNEUR et que cela n’arrive pas, alors ses paroles ne viennent pas du SEIGNEUR. Le prophète a osé parler en son nom à lui. N’ayez pas peur de lui !
