Deutéronome 25.2

Si ce dernier a mérité d’être battu, le juge le fera étendre par terre et le fera battre en sa présence d’un nombre de coups proportionnel à la gravité de son délit.
Si celui qui a tort a mérité d'être battu, le juge le fera jeter par terre et battre en sa présence, selon la gravité de son crime, d'un certain nombre de coups.

      Deutéronome 25

      2 and it shall be, if the wicked man be worthy to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face, according to his wickedness, by number.
