13 à 15 Le second danger est celui qui proviendra de la contagion des nations païennes environnantes. Israël doit se garder de craindre ou de servir quelque autre dieu que Jéhova, ou même de jurer par le nom d'aucun autre dieu que lui. Le serment est un acte de culte, un hommage rendu à la divinité de l'être au nom duquel il est prêté, (Esaïe 45.23). De là la défense de jurer au nom d'un être quelconque (autre que l'Eternel) ; Matthieu 5.34-36 ; Jacques 5.12 ; comparez Hébreux 6.16-18.
