Localité de Benjamin située aux confins d'une région aride, à l'Est de Béthel et près de cette ville (Jos 7:2 18:12, 1Sam 13:5 14:23). Osée en fait un surnom de dérision (Os 4:15 5:8 10:5, cf. Os 10:8, Aven), pour dénoncer la profanation de Béthel (=maison de Dieu).
