Fort hameçon circulaire, fermé ou non, servant à capturer et à maintenir captifs, par les mâchoires ou le museau, de gros animaux : lion (Eze 19:4,9), crocodile (Job 40:21, Eze 29:4 38:4), auxquels Ézéchiel compare dans ces passages princes et rois réduits par l'Éternel. Ce n'est pas une simple image : voir fig. 107.

Dans Esa 40:12, le crochet pouvait être une espèce de peson, mis en parallèle avec la balance aux deux plateaux. Bien des crochets entraient dans l'ameublement du Temple, des palais et des maisons ; voir (Ex 26:11,33 36:13 etc.) Agrafe, Anneau, Clou.
