PLAINE (villes de la)

Ce terme désigne dans Ge 18 et 19 cinq cités : Sodome, Gomorrhe, Adma, Tseboïm et Tsoar (Bêla). Les quatre premières furent détruites par le feu pour leur extrême perversité. L'histoire de Lot, le neveu d'Abraham, et de sa fuite loin de Sodome, est bien connue ; Lot s'enfuit à Tsoar et, sur sa prière, cette ville fut épargnée (Ge 19:12,26).

Il est impossible de déterminer le lieu exact des villes de la Plaine. On convient généralement qu'elles se trouvaient dans la plaine de la vallée du Jourdain près de la mer Morte.

Ceux qui les placent au Sud de cette mer avancent les arguments suivants :

(a) Djebel Ousdoûm, falaise de sel gemme à l'angle S. -O, de la mer Morte, est en général identifie avec le nom de Sodome ;

(b) Eusèbe place Tsoar à l'extrémité de la mer Morte opposée à Jérico ;

(c) Eze 16:46 laisse supposer que Sodome se trouvait dans la direction du S. de Jérusalem ; si elle était à l'extrémité N. de la mer Morte, elle se serait trouvée presque directement à l'Est de la capitale.

A ces arguments s'opposent les considérations suivantes :

(a) Lorsque Amraphel marcha de Kadès contre les villes de la Plaine (Ge 14:1,8), il traversa Hatsatson-Thamar que l'on identifie ordinairement avec la moderne Engeddi ; donc les villes devaient se trouver au Nord d'Engeddi, à l'extrémité N. de la mer Morte ;

(b) le « cercle » ou la « plaine » du Jourdain ne peut avoir été que la large plaine s'étendant autour de son embouchure ; dans De 34:3, elle est aussi appelée le cercle (Vers. Syn. : bassin) qui environne la vallée de Jérico ;

(c) la plaine et ses villes étaient visibles du voisinage de Béthel. --Voir (Ge 13:3-10) Mer Morte.

Il est curieux de noter que les noms de Sodome et de Gomorrhe ont été trouvés écrits à la main sur le mur d'une maison de Pompéi, inscription d'origine certainement juive ou chrétienne.

    • Genèse 13

      3 D’étape en étape, il retourna du Néguev jusqu’à Béthel, au lieu où il avait auparavant établi son campement, entre Béthel et Aï,
      4 c’est-à-dire à l’endroit où était l’autel qu’il avait précédemment érigé, et il y pria l’Eternel.
      5 Loth, qui accompagnait Abram, avait aussi des moutons, des chèvres, des bovins et des tentes,
      6 et le pays ne suffisait pas pour qu’ils puissent habiter ensemble, car leurs troupeaux étaient trop nombreux,
      7 et, de plus, les Cananéens et les Phéréziens habitaient alors le pays. Alors, les bergers d’Abram se disputèrent avec ceux de Loth.
      8 Abram dit à Loth : —Nous sommes de la même famille. Il ne faut donc pas qu’il y ait dispute entre moi et toi, entre mes bergers et les tiens.
      9 Séparons-nous plutôt. Tout le pays est à ta disposition. Si tu vas à gauche, j’irai à droite, et si tu vas à droite, j’irai à gauche.
      10 Alors Loth regarda et vit toute la plaine du *Jourdain qui s’étendait jusqu’à Tsoar : avant que l’Eternel eût détruit Sodome et Gomorrhe, elle était comme le jardin de l’Eternel, comme la terre d’Egypte.

      Genèse 14

      1 Il arriva au temps d’Amraphel, roi de Chinéar, d’Aryok, roi d’Ellasar, de Kedorlaomer, roi d’Elam, et de Tideal, roi de Goyim,
      8 C’est alors que les rois de Sodome, de Gomorrhe, d’Adma, de Tseboïm et de Béla, c’est-à-dire Tsoar, s’avancèrent et se mirent en position de combat dans la vallée de Siddim

      Genèse 18

      1 L’Eternel apparut à Abraham près des chênes de Mamré. Abraham était assis à l’entrée de sa tente. C’était l’heure de la forte chaleur.
      2 Il regarda et aperçut soudain trois hommes qui se tenaient à quelque distance de lui. Dès qu’il les vit, il courut à leur rencontre depuis l’entrée de sa tente et se prosterna jusqu’à terre.
      3 —Mes seigneurs, leur dit-il, faites-moi la faveur de ne pas passer près de chez votre serviteur sans vous arrêter !
      4 Permettez-moi d’aller chercher un peu d’eau pour que vous vous laviez les pieds, puis vous vous reposerez là sous cet arbre.
      5 Je vous apporterai un morceau de pain et vous reprendrez des forces avant de poursuivre votre chemin puisque vous êtes passés si près de chez votre serviteur. Ils répondirent : —Très bien, fais comme tu as dit !
      6 Abraham se dépêcha d’entrer dans sa tente et de dire à Sara : —Pétris vite trois mesures de fleur de farine, et fais-en des galettes.
      7 Puis il courut au troupeau et choisit un veau gras à la chair bien tendre, il l’amena à un serviteur qui se hâta de l’apprêter.
      8 Il prit du fromage et du lait avec la viande qu’il avait fait apprêter, et les apporta aux trois hommes. Abraham se tint auprès d’eux pendant qu’ils mangeaient sous l’arbre.
      9 Après cela, ils lui demandèrent : —Où est Sara, ta femme ? —Elle est là dans la tente, leur répondit-il.
      10 Puis l’Eternel lui dit : —L’an prochain, à la même époque, je ne manquerai pas de revenir chez toi, et ta femme Sara aura un fils. Derrière lui, à l’entrée de la tente, Sara entendit ces paroles.
      11 Or, Abraham et Sara étaient tous deux très âgés et Sara avait depuis longtemps dépassé l’âge d’avoir des enfants.
      12 Alors Sara rit en elle-même en se disant : —Maintenant, vieille comme je suis, aurais-je encore du plaisir ? Mon mari aussi est un vieillard.
      13 Alors l’Eternel dit à Abraham : —Pourquoi donc Sara a-t-elle ri en se disant : « Peut-il être vrai que j’aurai un enfant, âgée comme je suis ? »
      14 Y a-t-il quoi que ce soit de trop extraordinaire pour l’Eternel ? L’an prochain, à l’époque où je repasserai chez toi, Sara aura un fils.
      15 Saisie de crainte, Sara mentit : —Je n’ai pas ri, dit-elle. —Si ! tu as bel et bien ri, répliqua l’Eternel.
      16 Puis ces hommes se remirent en route en prenant la direction de Sodome. Abraham les accompagna pour prendre congé d’eux.
      17 L’Eternel se dit alors : —Cacherai-je à Abraham ce que je vais faire ?
      18 Il deviendra l’ancêtre d’une grande et puissante nation et une source de bénédictions pour tous les peuples de la terre.
      19 Car je l’ai choisi pour qu’il prescrive à ses descendants et à tous les siens après lui de faire la volonté de l’Eternel, en faisant ce qui est juste et droit ; ainsi j’accomplirai les promesses que je lui ai faites.
      20 Alors l’Eternel dit à Abraham : —De graves accusations contre Sodome et Gomorrhe sont montées jusqu’à moi : leur perversité est énorme.
      21 Je veux y descendre pour voir si leur conduite est vraiment conforme à ce que j’entends dire. Et si ce n’est pas le cas, je le saurai.
      22 Là-dessus, ces hommes partirent en direction de Sodome, tandis qu’Abraham continuait à se tenir en présence de l’Eternel.
      23 Il s’approcha et dit : —Vas-tu vraiment faire périr le juste avec le coupable ?
      24 Peut-être y a-t-il cinquante justes dans la ville ; vas-tu aussi les faire périr ? Ne pardonneras-tu pas à la ville à cause de ces cinquante justes qui sont au milieu d’elle ?
      25 Tu ne peux pas faire cela ! Tu ne peux pas traiter de la même manière le juste et le coupable et faire mourir le juste avec le *méchant ! Toi qui juges la terre entière, n’agirais-tu pas selon le droit ?
      26 L’Eternel lui répondit : —Si je trouve à Sodome cinquante justes, je pardonnerai à toute la ville à cause d’eux.
      27 Abraham reprit : —Je ne suis que poussière et cendre, et pourtant j’ai osé parler à mon Seigneur.
      28 Peut-être que des cinquante justes, il en manquera cinq. A cause de ces cinq hommes en moins, vas-tu détruire toute la ville ? Dieu répondit : —Non, je ne la détruirai pas si j’y trouve quarante-cinq justes.
      29 Abraham reprit à nouveau la parole et dit : —Peut-être ne s’y trouvera-t-il que quarante justes ? Et Dieu dit : —A cause de ces quarante, je ne la détruirai pas.
      30 Abraham poursuivit : —Que mon Seigneur ne se fâche pas si j’insiste. Peut-être n’y aura-t-il que trente justes ? Et Dieu dit : —Si j’en trouve trente, je ne détruirai pas la ville.
      31 Abraham reprit : —Voilà que j’ai osé parler à mon Seigneur. Mais peut-être s’en trouvera-t-il seulement vingt. Et Dieu répondit : —A cause de ces vingt, je ne détruirai pas la ville.
      32 Abraham dit : —Que mon Seigneur ne se mette pas en colère, et je parlerai une dernière fois. Peut-être ne s’y trouvera-t-il que dix justes. Et Dieu dit : —A cause de ces dix, je ne détruirai pas Sodome.
      33 Quand il eut fini de s’entretenir avec Abraham, l’Eternel s’en alla et Abraham retourna chez lui.

      Genèse 19

      1 Le soir, les deux *anges arrivèrent à Sodome. Loth était assis à la porte de la ville. En les voyant, il se leva pour aller à leur rencontre et se prosterna face contre terre.
      2 Il leur dit : —S’il vous plaît, mes seigneurs, acceptez de faire un détour et de venir loger dans la maison de votre serviteur. Vous pourrez vous y laver les pieds, et vous y passerez la nuit, avant de poursuivre votre route. —Non, lui répondirent-ils, nous passerons la nuit sur la place.
      3 Mais Loth insista tant qu’ils finirent par accepter de se rendre dans sa maison. Il leur fit préparer un bon repas et cuire du pain sans *levain et ils se mirent à manger.
      4 Quand ils furent sur le point de se coucher, la maison fut encerclée par les gens de la ville : tous les hommes de Sodome, jeunes et vieux, étaient venus là des différents quartiers de la ville.
      5 Ils appelèrent Loth et lui demandèrent : —Où sont ces hommes qui sont venus chez toi cette nuit ? Amène-les nous pour que nous couchions avec eux !
      6 Loth sortit sur le pas de sa porte et referma la porte derrière lui.
      7 —Non, mes frères, leur dit-il, je vous en supplie, ne commettez pas le mal !
      8 Ecoutez : j’ai deux filles qui sont encore vierges. Je vais vous les amener, vous leur ferez ce qui vous plaira, mais ne touchez pas ces hommes puisqu’ils sont venus s’abriter sous mon toit.
      9 —Ote-toi de là ! lui crièrent-ils. Puis ils ajoutèrent : Voyez-moi cet individu, il est venu ici comme étranger et maintenant, il veut jouer au juge ! Eh bien, nous t’en ferons voir plus qu’à eux. Puis ils poussèrent violemment Loth de côté et s’approchèrent de la porte pour l’enfoncer.
      10 Mais les deux hommes venus chez Loth se saisirent de lui, le ramenèrent vers eux à l’intérieur de la maison, et refermèrent la porte.
      11 Ils frappèrent d’aveuglement les gens massés à l’entrée de la maison, jeunes et vieux, de sorte qu’ils n’arrivaient plus à trouver la porte.
      12 Alors les deux hommes dirent à Loth : —Qui as-tu encore de ta parenté dans cette ville ? Des gendres, des fils et des filles ? Qui que ce soit, fais-les sortir de là,
      13 car nous allons détruire cette ville, parce que de graves accusations contre ses habitants sont montées jusque devant l’Eternel. C’est pourquoi l’Eternel nous a envoyés pour détruire la ville.
      14 Là-dessus, Loth sortit et alla trouver les maris de ses filles. —Allons, leur dit-il, il faut quitter ce lieu car l’Eternel va détruire la ville ! Mais ses gendres prirent ses paroles pour une plaisanterie.
      15 Dès que l’aube parut, les anges se firent pressants. Ils dirent à Loth : —Debout ! Emmène ta femme et tes deux filles qui sont ici, si tu ne veux pas périr emporté par le jugement qui va s’abattre sur cette ville.
      16 Comme il hésitait encore, les deux hommes les prirent de force par la main, lui, sa femme et ses deux filles, et les entraînèrent hors de la ville, car Dieu voulait les épargner.
      17 Une fois hors de la ville, l’un des hommes lui dit : —Sauve-toi ! Il y va de ta vie. Ne regarde pas derrière toi et ne t’arrête nulle part dans la plaine ! Fuis vers la montagne si tu ne veux pas périr !
      18 —Oh non, mon seigneur, lui dit Loth,
      19 ton serviteur a déjà obtenu ta faveur et tu as été très bon envers moi en me sauvant la vie ; je ne pourrai pas m’enfuir jusqu’à la montagne, je risque d’être atteint par le malheur et de mourir.
      20 Il y a cette ville là-bas ; elle est assez proche pour que j’aie le temps de m’y réfugier. Elle est insignifiante, permets-moi de fuir jusque là pour sauver ma vie ! N’est-elle pas peu de chose ?
      21 —Bon, lui dit l’*ange, je t’accorde encore cette faveur et je ne ferai pas venir de catastrophe sur la ville dont tu parles.
      22 Mais dépêche-toi de t’y sauver, car je ne peux rien faire avant que tu y sois arrivé ! C’est pourquoi on a nommé la ville Tsoar (Peu de chose).
      23 Au moment où le soleil se levait, Loth arrivait à Tsoar.
      24 Alors l’Eternel fit tomber sur Sodome et sur Gomorrhe une pluie de soufre enflammé par un feu qui venait du ciel, de l’Eternel.
      25 Il fit venir une catastrophe sur ces villes ainsi que sur toute la région. Toute la population de ces villes périt ainsi que la végétation.
      26 La femme de Loth regarda derrière elle et fut changée en une statue de sel.
      27 Abraham se rendit de bon matin à l’endroit où il s’était tenu en présence de l’Eternel.
      28 Il porta son regard vers Sodome et Gomorrhe et vers toute la plaine environnante et il vit s’élever de la terre une épaisse fumée, comme celle d’un immense brasier.
      29 Ainsi, lorsque Dieu détruisit les villes de la plaine, il n’oublia pas Abraham et il fit échapper Loth à la catastrophe par laquelle il anéantit les villes dans lesquelles Loth avait habité.
      30 Par la suite, Loth quitta Tsoar car il avait peur d’y demeurer, et il alla habiter avec ses deux filles dans la montagne. Il s’installa avec elles dans une caverne.
      31 L’aînée dit à la cadette : —Notre père est déjà âgé et il n’y a pas d’autre homme dans ce pays pour s’unir à nous selon l’usage de tout le monde.
      32 Allons ! faisons-lui boire du vin et couchons avec lui pour lui donner une descendance.
      33 Cette nuit-là, elles firent donc boire du vin à leur père et l’aînée vint partager la couche de son père, qui ne se rendit compte de rien, ni quand elle se coucha, ni quand elle se leva.
      34 Le lendemain, l’aînée dit à la plus jeune : —Voici que la nuit dernière j’ai couché avec mon père ; enivrons-le encore ce soir et tu iras partager son lit. Ainsi nous lui donnerons une descendance.
      35 Ce soir-là, elles firent donc encore boire du vin à leur père et la cadette alla s’étendre auprès de lui, mais il ne s’aperçut ni quand elle se coucha ni quand elle se leva.
      36 Les deux filles de Loth devinrent enceintes de leur père.
      37 L’aînée eut un fils qu’elle appela Moab (Issu du père) ; c’est l’ancêtre des Moabites qui existent encore aujourd’hui.
      38 La cadette aussi eut un fils, qu’elle appela Ben-Ammi (Fils de mon parent) ; c’est l’ancêtre des Ammonites qui existent encore aujourd’hui.

      Ezéchiel 16

      46 Ta sœur aînée qui habite au nord de toi, c’est Samarie avec ses cités-filles : et ta petite sœur, qui demeure au sud de toi, c’est Sodome avec ses filles.

      4 אֶל־מְקוֹם֙ הַמִּזְבֵּ֔חַ אֲשֶׁר־עָ֥שָׂה שָׁ֖ם בָּרִאשֹׁנָ֑ה וַיִּקְרָ֥א שָׁ֛ם אַבְרָ֖ם בְּשֵׁ֥ם יְהוָֽה׃

      8 וַיִּקַּ֨ח חֶמְאָ֜ה וְחָלָ֗ב וּבֶן־הַבָּקָר֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֔ה וַיִּתֵּ֖ן לִפְנֵיהֶ֑ם וְהֽוּא־עֹמֵ֧ד עֲלֵיהֶ֛ם תַּ֥חַת הָעֵ֖ץ וַיֹּאכֵֽלוּ׃
      9 וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֵׄלָׄ֔יׄוׄ אַיֵּ֖ה שָׂרָ֣ה אִשְׁתֶּ֑ךָ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר הִנֵּ֥ה בָאֹֽהֶל׃
      10 וַיֹּ֗אמֶר שׁ֣וֹב אָשׁ֤וּב אֵלֶ֙יךָ֙ כָּעֵ֣ת חַיָּ֔ה וְהִנֵּה־בֵ֖ן לְשָׂרָ֣ה אִשְׁתֶּ֑ךָ וְשָׂרָ֥ה שֹׁמַ֛עַת פֶּ֥תַח הָאֹ֖הֶל וְה֥וּא אַחֲרָֽיו׃
      11 וְאַבְרָהָ֤ם וְשָׂרָה֙ זְקֵנִ֔ים בָּאִ֖ים בַּיָּמִ֑ים חָדַל֙ לִהְי֣וֹת לְשָׂרָ֔ה אֹ֖רַח כַּנָּשִֽׁים׃
      12 וַתִּצְחַ֥ק שָׂרָ֖ה בְּקִרְבָּ֣הּ לֵאמֹ֑ר אַחֲרֵ֤י בְלֹתִי֙ הָֽיְתָה־לִּ֣י עֶדְנָ֔ה וַֽאדֹנִ֖י זָקֵֽן׃
      13 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־אַבְרָהָ֑ם לָ֣מָּה זֶּה֩ צָחֲקָ֨ה שָׂרָ֜ה לֵאמֹ֗ר הַאַ֥ף אֻמְנָ֛ם אֵלֵ֖ד וַאֲנִ֥י זָקַֽנְתִּי׃
      14 הֲיִפָּלֵ֥א מֵיְהוָ֖ה דָּבָ֑ר לַמּוֹעֵ֞ד אָשׁ֥וּב אֵלֶ֛יךָ כָּעֵ֥ת חַיָּ֖ה וּלְשָׂרָ֥ה בֵֽן׃
      15 וַתְּכַחֵ֨שׁ שָׂרָ֧ה ׀ לֵאמֹ֛ר לֹ֥א צָחַ֖קְתִּי כִּ֣י ׀ יָרֵ֑אָה וַיֹּ֥אמֶר ׀ לֹ֖א כִּ֥י צָחָֽקְתְּ׃
      16 וַיָּקֻ֤מוּ מִשָּׁם֙ הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֔ים וַיַּשְׁקִ֖פוּ עַל־פְּנֵ֣י סְדֹ֑ם וְאַ֨בְרָהָ֔ם הֹלֵ֥ךְ עִמָּ֖ם לְשַׁלְּחָֽם׃
      17 וַֽיהֹוָ֖ה אָמָ֑ר הַֽמְכַסֶּ֤ה אֲנִי֙ מֵֽאַבְרָהָ֔ם אֲשֶׁ֖ר אֲנִ֥י עֹשֶֽׂה׃
      18 וְאַ֨בְרָהָ֔ם הָי֧וֹ יִֽהְיֶ֛ה לְג֥וֹי גָּד֖וֹל וְעָצ֑וּם וְנִ֨בְרְכוּ ב֔וֹ כֹּ֖ל גּוֹיֵ֥י הָאָֽרֶץ׃
      19 כִּ֣י יְדַעְתִּ֗יו לְמַעַן֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יְצַוֶּ֜ה אֶת־בָּנָ֤יו וְאֶת־בֵּיתוֹ֙ אַחֲרָ֔יו וְשָֽׁמְרוּ֙ דֶּ֣רֶךְ יְהוָ֔ה לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת צְדָקָ֖ה וּמִשְׁפָּ֑ט לְמַ֗עַן הָבִ֤יא יְהוָה֙ עַל־אַבְרָהָ֔ם אֵ֥ת אֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּ֖ר עָלָֽיו׃
      20 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוָ֔ה זַעֲקַ֛ת סְדֹ֥ם וַעֲמֹרָ֖ה כִּי־רָ֑בָּה וְחַ֨טָּאתָ֔ם כִּ֥י כָבְדָ֖ה מְאֹֽד׃
      21 אֵֽרֲדָה־נָּ֣א וְאֶרְאֶ֔ה הַכְּצַעֲקָתָ֛הּ הַבָּ֥אָה אֵלַ֖י עָשׂ֣וּ ׀ כָּלָ֑ה וְאִם־לֹ֖א אֵדָֽעָה׃
      22 וַיִּפְנ֤וּ מִשָּׁם֙ הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֔ים וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ סְדֹ֑מָה וְאַ֨בְרָהָ֔ם עוֹדֶ֥נּוּ עֹמֵ֖ד לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃
      23 וַיִּגַּ֥שׁ אַבְרָהָ֖ם וַיֹּאמַ֑ר הַאַ֣ף תִּסְפֶּ֔ה צַדִּ֖יק עִם־רָשָֽׁע׃
      24 אוּלַ֥י יֵ֛שׁ חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים צַדִּיקִ֖ם בְּת֣וֹךְ הָעִ֑יר הַאַ֤ף תִּסְפֶּה֙ וְלֹא־תִשָּׂ֣א לַמָּק֔וֹם לְמַ֛עַן חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים הַצַּדִּיקִ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר בְּקִרְבָּֽהּ׃
      25 חָלִ֨לָה לְּךָ֜ מֵעֲשֹׂ֣ת ׀ כַּדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֗ה לְהָמִ֤ית צַדִּיק֙ עִם־רָשָׁ֔ע וְהָיָ֥ה כַצַּדִּ֖יק כָּרָשָׁ֑ע חָלִ֣לָה לָּ֔ךְ הֲשֹׁפֵט֙ כָּל־הָאָ֔רֶץ לֹ֥א יַעֲשֶׂ֖ה מִשְׁפָּֽט׃
      26 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוָ֔ה אִם־אֶמְצָ֥א בִסְדֹ֛ם חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים צַדִּיקִ֖ם בְּת֣וֹךְ הָעִ֑יר וְנָשָׂ֥אתִי לְכָל־הַמָּק֖וֹם בַּעֲבוּרָֽם׃
      27 וַיַּ֥עַן אַבְרָהָ֖ם וַיֹּאמַ֑ר הִנֵּה־נָ֤א הוֹאַ֙לְתִּי֙ לְדַבֵּ֣ר אֶל־אֲדֹנָ֔י וְאָנֹכִ֖י עָפָ֥ר וָאֵֽפֶר׃
      28 א֠וּלַי יַחְסְר֞וּן חֲמִשִּׁ֤ים הַצַּדִּיקִם֙ חֲמִשָּׁ֔ה הֲתַשְׁחִ֥ית בַּחֲמִשָּׁ֖ה אֶת־כָּל־הָעִ֑יר וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ לֹ֣א אַשְׁחִ֔ית אִם־אֶמְצָ֣א שָׁ֔ם אַרְבָּעִ֖ים וַחֲמִשָּֽׁה׃
      29 וַיֹּ֨סֶף ע֜וֹד לְדַבֵּ֤ר אֵלָיו֙ וַיֹּאמַ֔ר אוּלַ֛י יִמָּצְא֥וּן שָׁ֖ם אַרְבָּעִ֑ים וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ לֹ֣א אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֔ה בַּעֲב֖וּר הָאַרְבָּעִֽים׃
      30 וַ֠יֹּאמֶר אַל־נָ֞א יִ֤חַר לַֽאדֹנָי֙ וַאֲדַבֵּ֔רָה אוּלַ֛י יִמָּצְא֥וּן שָׁ֖ם שְׁלֹשִׁ֑ים וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ לֹ֣א אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֔ה אִם־אֶמְצָ֥א שָׁ֖ם שְׁלֹשִֽׁים׃
      31 וַיֹּ֗אמֶר הִנֵּֽה־נָ֤א הוֹאַ֙לְתִּי֙ לְדַבֵּ֣ר אֶל־אֲדֹנָ֔י אוּלַ֛י יִמָּצְא֥וּן שָׁ֖ם עֶשְׂרִ֑ים וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ לֹ֣א אַשְׁחִ֔ית בַּעֲב֖וּר הָֽעֶשְׂרִֽים׃
      32 וַ֠יֹּאמֶר אַל־נָ֞א יִ֤חַר לַֽאדֹנָי֙ וַאֲדַבְּרָ֣ה אַךְ־הַפַּ֔עַם אוּלַ֛י יִמָּצְא֥וּן שָׁ֖ם עֲשָׂרָ֑ה וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ לֹ֣א אַשְׁחִ֔ית בַּעֲב֖וּר הָעֲשָׂרָֽה׃
      33 וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ יְהוָ֔ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר כִּלָּ֔ה לְדַבֵּ֖ר אֶל־אַבְרָהָ֑ם וְאַבְרָהָ֖ם שָׁ֥ב לִמְקֹמֽוֹ׃

      Genèse 19

      1 וַ֠יָּבֹאוּ שְׁנֵ֨י הַמַּלְאָכִ֤ים סְדֹ֙מָה֙ בָּעֶ֔רֶב וְל֖וֹט יֹשֵׁ֣ב בְּשַֽׁעַר־סְדֹ֑ם וַיַּרְא־לוֹט֙ וַיָּ֣קָם לִקְרָאתָ֔ם וַיִּשְׁתַּ֥חוּ אַפַּ֖יִם אָֽרְצָה׃
      2 וַיֹּ֜אמֶר הִנֶּ֣ה נָּא־אֲדֹנַ֗י ס֣וּרוּ נָ֠א אֶל־בֵּ֨ית עַבְדְּכֶ֤ם וְלִ֙ינוּ֙ וְרַחֲצ֣וּ רַגְלֵיכֶ֔ם וְהִשְׁכַּמְתֶּ֖ם וַהֲלַכְתֶּ֣ם לְדַרְכְּכֶ֑ם וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ לֹּ֔א כִּ֥י בָרְח֖וֹב נָלִֽין׃
      3 וַיִּפְצַר־בָּ֣ם מְאֹ֔ד וַיָּסֻ֣רוּ אֵלָ֔יו וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ אֶל־בֵּית֑וֹ וַיַּ֤עַשׂ לָהֶם֙ מִשְׁתֶּ֔ה וּמַצּ֥וֹת אָפָ֖ה וַיֹּאכֵֽלוּ׃
      4 טֶרֶם֮ יִשְׁכָּבוּ֒ וְאַנְשֵׁ֨י הָעִ֜יר אַנְשֵׁ֤י סְדֹם֙ נָסַ֣בּוּ עַל־הַבַּ֔יִת מִנַּ֖עַר וְעַד־זָקֵ֑ן כָּל־הָעָ֖ם מִקָּצֶֽה׃
      5 וַיִּקְרְא֤וּ אֶל־לוֹט֙ וַיֹּ֣אמְרוּ ל֔וֹ אַיֵּ֧ה הָאֲנָשִׁ֛ים אֲשֶׁר־בָּ֥אוּ אֵלֶ֖יךָ הַלָּ֑יְלָה הוֹצִיאֵ֣ם אֵלֵ֔ינוּ וְנֵדְעָ֖ה אֹתָֽם׃
      6 וַיֵּצֵ֧א אֲלֵהֶ֛ם ל֖וֹט הַפֶּ֑תְחָה וְהַדֶּ֖לֶת סָגַ֥ר אַחֲרָֽיו׃
      7 וַיֹּאמַ֑ר אַל־נָ֥א אַחַ֖י תָּרֵֽעוּ׃
      8 הִנֵּה־נָ֨א לִ֜י שְׁתֵּ֣י בָנ֗וֹת אֲשֶׁ֤ר לֹֽא־יָדְעוּ֙ אִ֔ישׁ אוֹצִֽיאָה־נָּ֤א אֶתְהֶן֙ אֲלֵיכֶ֔ם וַעֲשׂ֣וּ לָהֶ֔ן כַּטּ֖וֹב בְּעֵינֵיכֶ֑ם רַ֠ק לָֽאֲנָשִׁ֤ים הָאֵל֙ אַל־תַּעֲשׂ֣וּ דָבָ֔ר כִּֽי־עַל־כֵּ֥ן בָּ֖אוּ בְּצֵ֥ל קֹרָתִֽי׃
      9 וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ ׀ גֶּשׁ־הָ֗לְאָה וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ הָאֶחָ֤ד בָּֽא־לָגוּר֙ וַיִּשְׁפֹּ֣ט שָׁפ֔וֹט עַתָּ֕ה נָרַ֥ע לְךָ֖ מֵהֶ֑ם וַיִּפְצְר֨וּ בָאִ֤ישׁ בְּלוֹט֙ מְאֹ֔ד וַֽיִּגְּשׁ֖וּ לִשְׁבֹּ֥ר הַדָּֽלֶת׃
      10 וַיִּשְׁלְח֤וּ הָֽאֲנָשִׁים֙ אֶת־יָדָ֔ם וַיָּבִ֧יאוּ אֶת־ל֛וֹט אֲלֵיהֶ֖ם הַבָּ֑יְתָה וְאֶת־הַדֶּ֖לֶת סָגָֽרוּ׃
      11 וְֽאֶת־הָאֲנָשִׁ֞ים אֲשֶׁר־פֶּ֣תַח הַבַּ֗יִת הִכּוּ֙ בַּסַּנְוֵרִ֔ים מִקָּטֹ֖ן וְעַד־גָּד֑וֹל וַיִּלְא֖וּ לִמְצֹ֥א הַפָּֽתַח׃
      12 וַיֹּאמְר֨וּ הָאֲנָשִׁ֜ים אֶל־ל֗וֹט עֹ֚ד מִֽי־לְךָ֣ פֹ֔ה חָתָן֙ וּבָנֶ֣יךָ וּבְנֹתֶ֔יךָ וְכֹ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־לְךָ֖ בָּעִ֑יר הוֹצֵ֖א מִן־הַמָּקֽוֹם׃
      13 כִּֽי־מַשְׁחִתִ֣ים אֲנַ֔חְנוּ אֶת־הַמָּק֖וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה כִּֽי־גָֽדְלָ֤ה צַעֲקָתָם֙ אֶת־פְּנֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה וַיְשַׁלְּחֵ֥נוּ יְהוָ֖ה לְשַׁחֲתָֽהּ׃
      14 וַיֵּצֵ֨א ל֜וֹט וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר ׀ אֶל־חֲתָנָ֣יו ׀ לֹקְחֵ֣י בְנֹתָ֗יו וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ ק֤וּמוּ צְּאוּ֙ מִן־הַמָּק֣וֹם הַזֶּ֔ה כִּֽי־מַשְׁחִ֥ית יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־הָעִ֑יר וַיְהִ֥י כִמְצַחֵ֖ק בְּעֵינֵ֥י חֲתָנָֽיו׃
      15 וּכְמוֹ֙ הַשַּׁ֣חַר עָלָ֔ה וַיָּאִ֥יצוּ הַמַּלְאָכִ֖ים בְּל֣וֹט לֵאמֹ֑ר קוּם֩ קַ֨ח אֶֽת־אִשְׁתְּךָ֜ וְאֶת־שְׁתֵּ֤י בְנֹתֶ֙יךָ֙ הַנִּמְצָאֹ֔ת פֶּן־תִּסָּפֶ֖ה בַּעֲוֺ֥ן הָעִֽיר׃
      16 וַֽיִּתְמַהְמָ֓הּ ׀ וַיַּחֲזִ֨קוּ הָאֲנָשִׁ֜ים בְּיָד֣וֹ וּבְיַד־אִשְׁתּ֗וֹ וּבְיַד֙ שְׁתֵּ֣י בְנֹתָ֔יו בְּחֶמְלַ֥ת יְהוָ֖ה עָלָ֑יו וַיֹּצִאֻ֥הוּ וַיַּנִּחֻ֖הוּ מִח֥וּץ לָעִֽיר׃
      17 וַיְהִי֩ כְהוֹצִיאָ֨ם אֹתָ֜ם הַח֗וּצָה וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ הִמָּלֵ֣ט עַל־נַפְשֶׁ֔ךָ אַל־תַּבִּ֣יט אַחֲרֶ֔יךָ וְאַֽל־תַּעֲמֹ֖ד בְּכָל־הַכִּכָּ֑ר הָהָ֥רָה הִמָּלֵ֖ט פֶּן־תִּסָּפֶֽה׃
      18 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר ל֖וֹט אֲלֵהֶ֑ם אַל־נָ֖א אֲדֹנָֽי׃
      19 הִנֵּה־נָ֠א מָצָ֨א עַבְדְּךָ֣ חֵן֮ בְּעֵינֶיךָ֒ וַתַּגְדֵּ֣ל חַסְדְּךָ֗ אֲשֶׁ֤ר עָשִׂ֙יתָ֙ עִמָּדִ֔י לְהַחֲי֖וֹת אֶת־נַפְשִׁ֑י וְאָנֹכִ֗י לֹ֤א אוּכַל֙ לְהִמָּלֵ֣ט הָהָ֔רָה פֶּן־תִּדְבָּקַ֥נִי הָרָעָ֖ה וָמַֽתִּי׃
      20 הִנֵּה־נָ֠א הָעִ֨יר הַזֹּ֧את קְרֹבָ֛ה לָנ֥וּס שָׁ֖מָּה וְהִ֣יא מִצְעָ֑ר אִמָּלְטָ֨ה נָּ֜א שָׁ֗מָּה הֲלֹ֥א מִצְעָ֛ר הִ֖וא וּתְחִ֥י נַפְשִֽׁי׃
      21 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֔יו הִנֵּה֙ נָשָׂ֣אתִי פָנֶ֔יךָ גַּ֖ם לַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֑ה לְבִלְתִּ֛י הָפְכִּ֥י אֶת־הָעִ֖יר אֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבַּֽרְתָּ׃
      22 מַהֵר֙ הִמָּלֵ֣ט שָׁ֔מָּה כִּ֣י לֹ֤א אוּכַל֙ לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת דָּבָ֔ר עַד־בֹּאֲךָ֖ שָׁ֑מָּה עַל־כֵּ֛ן קָרָ֥א שֵׁם־הָעִ֖יר צֽוֹעַר׃
      23 הַשֶּׁ֖מֶשׁ יָצָ֣א עַל־הָאָ֑רֶץ וְל֖וֹט בָּ֥א צֹֽעֲרָה׃
      24 וַֽיהוָ֗ה הִמְטִ֧יר עַל־סְדֹ֛ם וְעַל־עֲמֹרָ֖ה גָּפְרִ֣ית וָאֵ֑שׁ מֵאֵ֥ת יְהוָ֖ה מִן־הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃
      25 וַֽיַּהֲפֹךְ֙ אֶת־הֶעָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֔ל וְאֵ֖ת כָּל־הַכִּכָּ֑ר וְאֵת֙ כָּל־יֹשְׁבֵ֣י הֶעָרִ֔ים וְצֶ֖מַח הָאֲדָמָֽה׃
      26 וַתַּבֵּ֥ט אִשְׁתּ֖וֹ מֵאַחֲרָ֑יו וַתְּהִ֖י נְצִ֥יב מֶֽלַח׃
      27 וַיַּשְׁכֵּ֥ם אַבְרָהָ֖ם בַּבֹּ֑קֶר אֶל־הַ֨מָּק֔וֹם אֲשֶׁר־עָ֥מַד שָׁ֖ם אֶת־פְּנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃
      28 וַיַּשְׁקֵ֗ף עַל־פְּנֵ֤י סְדֹם֙ וַעֲמֹרָ֔ה וְעַֽל־כָּל־פְּנֵ֖י אֶ֣רֶץ הַכִּכָּ֑ר וַיַּ֗רְא וְהִנֵּ֤ה עָלָה֙ קִיטֹ֣ר הָאָ֔רֶץ כְּקִיטֹ֖ר הַכִּבְשָֽׁן׃
      29 וַיְהִ֗י בְּשַׁחֵ֤ת אֱלֹהִים֙ אֶת־עָרֵ֣י הַכִּכָּ֔ר וַיִּזְכֹּ֥ר אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֶת־אַבְרָהָ֑ם וַיְשַׁלַּ֤ח אֶת־לוֹט֙ מִתּ֣וֹךְ הַהֲפֵכָ֔ה בַּהֲפֹךְ֙ אֶת־הֶ֣עָרִ֔ים אֲשֶׁר־יָשַׁ֥ב בָּהֵ֖ן לֽוֹט׃
      30 וַיַּעַל֩ ל֨וֹט מִצּ֜וֹעַר וַיֵּ֣שֶׁב בָּהָ֗ר וּשְׁתֵּ֤י בְנֹתָיו֙ עִמּ֔וֹ כִּ֥י יָרֵ֖א לָשֶׁ֣בֶת בְּצ֑וֹעַר וַיֵּ֙שֶׁב֙ בַּמְּעָרָ֔ה ה֖וּא וּשְׁתֵּ֥י בְנֹתָֽיו׃
      31 וַתֹּ֧אמֶר הַבְּכִירָ֛ה אֶל־הַצְּעִירָ֖ה אָבִ֣ינוּ זָקֵ֑ן וְאִ֨ישׁ אֵ֤ין בָּאָ֙רֶץ֙ לָב֣וֹא עָלֵ֔ינוּ כְּדֶ֖רֶךְ כָּל־הָאָֽרֶץ׃
      32 לְכָ֨ה נַשְׁקֶ֧ה אֶת־אָבִ֛ינוּ יַ֖יִן וְנִשְׁכְּבָ֣ה עִמּ֑וֹ וּנְחַיֶּ֥ה מֵאָבִ֖ינוּ זָֽרַע׃
      33 וַתַּשְׁקֶ֧יןָ אֶת־אֲבִיהֶ֛ן יַ֖יִן בַּלַּ֣יְלָה ה֑וּא וַתָּבֹ֤א הַבְּכִירָה֙ וַתִּשְׁכַּ֣ב אֶת־אָבִ֔יהָ וְלֹֽא־יָדַ֥ע בְּשִׁכְבָ֖הּ וּבְקׄוּמָֽהּ׃
      34 וַֽיְהִי֙ מִֽמָּחֳרָ֔ת וַתֹּ֤אמֶר הַבְּכִירָה֙ אֶל־הַצְּעִירָ֔ה הֵן־שָׁכַ֥בְתִּי אֶ֖מֶשׁ אֶת־אָבִ֑י נַשְׁקֶ֨נּוּ יַ֜יִן גַּם־הַלַּ֗יְלָה וּבֹ֙אִי֙ שִׁכְבִ֣י עִמּ֔וֹ וּנְחַיֶּ֥ה מֵאָבִ֖ינוּ זָֽרַע׃
      35 וַתַּשְׁקֶ֜יןָ גַּ֣ם בַּלַּ֧יְלָה הַה֛וּא אֶת־אֲבִיהֶ֖ן יָ֑יִן וַתָּ֤קָם הַצְּעִירָה֙ וַתִּשְׁכַּ֣ב עִמּ֔וֹ וְלֹֽא־יָדַ֥ע בְּשִׁכְבָ֖הּ וּבְקֻמָֽהּ׃

      Ezéchiel 16

    • Genèse 13

      3 He went on his journeys from the South even to Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai,
      4 to the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first. There Abram called on the name of Yahweh.
      5 Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents.
      6 The land was not able to bear them, that they might live together: for their substance was great, so that they could not live together.
      7 There was a strife between the herdsmen of Abram's livestock and the herdsmen of Lot's livestock: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite lived in the land at that time.
      8 Abram said to Lot, "Please, let there be no strife between me and you, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen; for we are relatives.
      9 Isn't the whole land before you? Please separate yourself from me. If you go to the left hand, then I will go to the right. Or if you go to the right hand, then I will go to the left."
      10 Lot lifted up his eyes, and saw all the plain of the Jordan, that it was well-watered everywhere, before Yahweh destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, like the garden of Yahweh, like the land of Egypt, as you go to Zoar.

      Genèse 14

      1 It happened in the days of Amraphel, king of Shinar, Arioch, king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer, king of Elam, and Tidal, king of Goiim,
      8 The king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar) went out; and they set the battle in array against them in the valley of Siddim;

      Genèse 18

      1 Yahweh appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre, as he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day.
      2 He lifted up his eyes and looked, and saw that three men stood opposite him. When he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself to the earth,
      3 and said, "My lord, if now I have found favor in your sight, please don't go away from your servant.
      4 Now let a little water be fetched, wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree.
      5 I will get a morsel of bread so you can refresh your heart. After that you may go your way, now that you have come to your servant." They said, "Very well, do as you have said."
      6 Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah, and said, "Quickly prepare three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes."
      7 Abraham ran to the herd, and fetched a tender and good calf, and gave it to the servant. He hurried to dress it.
      8 He took butter, milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them. He stood by them under the tree, and they ate.
      9 They asked him, "Where is Sarah, your wife?" He said, "See, in the tent."
      10 He said, "I will certainly return to you when the season comes round. Behold, Sarah your wife will have a son." Sarah heard in the tent door, which was behind him.
      11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age. Sarah had passed the age of childbearing.
      12 Sarah laughed within herself, saying, "After I have grown old will I have pleasure, my lord being old also?"
      13 Yahweh said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh, saying, 'Will I really bear a child, yet I am old?'
      14 Is anything too hard for Yahweh? At the set time I will return to you, when the season comes round, and Sarah will have a son."
      15 Then Sarah denied, saying, "I didn't laugh," for she was afraid. He said, "No, but you did laugh."
      16 The men rose up from there, and looked toward Sodom. Abraham went with them to see them on their way.
      17 Yahweh said, "Will I hide from Abraham what I do,
      18 since Abraham has surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth will be blessed in him?
      19 For I have known him, to the end that he may command his children and his household after him, that they may keep the way of Yahweh, to do righteousness and justice; to the end that Yahweh may bring on Abraham that which he has spoken of him."
      20 Yahweh said, "Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous,
      21 I will go down now, and see whether their deeds are as bad as the reports which have come to me. If not, I will know."
      22 The men turned from there, and went toward Sodom, but Abraham stood yet before Yahweh.
      23 Abraham drew near, and said, "Will you consume the righteous with the wicked?
      24 What if there are fifty righteous within the city? Will you consume and not spare the place for the fifty righteous who are in it?
      25 Be it far from you to do things like that, to kill the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be like the wicked. May that be far from you. Shouldn't the Judge of all the earth do right?"
      26 Yahweh said, "If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sake."
      27 Abraham answered, "See now, I have taken it on myself to speak to the Lord, who am but dust and ashes.
      28 What if there will lack five of the fifty righteous? Will you destroy all the city for lack of five?" He said, "I will not destroy it, if I find forty-five there."
      29 He spoke to him yet again, and said, "What if there are forty found there?" He said, "I will not do it for the forty's sake."
      30 He said, "Oh don't let the Lord be angry, and I will speak. What if there are thirty found there?" He said, "I will not do it, if I find thirty there."
      31 He said, "See now, I have taken it on myself to speak to the Lord. What if there are twenty found there?" He said, "I will not destroy it for the twenty's sake."
      32 He said, "Oh don't let the Lord be angry, and I will speak just once more. What if ten are found there?" He said, "I will not destroy it for the ten's sake."
      33 Yahweh went his way, as soon as he had finished communing with Abraham, and Abraham returned to his place.

      Genèse 19

      1 The two angels came to Sodom at evening. Lot sat in the gate of Sodom. Lot saw them, and rose up to meet them. He bowed himself with his face to the earth,
      2 and he said, "See now, my lords, please turn aside into your servant's house, stay all night, wash your feet, and you can rise up early, and go on your way." They said, "No, but we will stay in the street all night."
      3 He urged them greatly, and they came in with him, and entered into his house. He made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate.
      4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, both young and old, all the people from every quarter.
      5 They called to Lot, and said to him, "Where are the men who came in to you this night? Bring them out to us, that we may have sex with them."
      6 Lot went out to them to the door, and shut the door after him.
      7 He said, "Please, my brothers, don't act so wickedly.
      8 See now, I have two virgin daughters. Please let me bring them out to you, and you may do to them what seems good to you. Only don't do anything to these men, because they have come under the shadow of my roof."
      9 They said, "Stand back!" Then they said, "This one fellow came in to live as a foreigner, and he appoints himself a judge. Now will we deal worse with you, than with them!" They pressed hard on the man Lot, and drew near to break the door.
      10 But the men reached out their hand, and brought Lot into the house to them, and shut the door.
      11 They struck the men who were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they wearied themselves to find the door.
      12 The men said to Lot, "Do you have anybody else here? Sons-in-law, your sons, your daughters, and whoever you have in the city, bring them out of the place:
      13 for we will destroy this place, because the outcry against them has grown great before Yahweh that Yahweh has sent us to destroy it."
      14 Lot went out, and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were pledged to marry his daughters, and said, "Get up! Get out of this place, for Yahweh will destroy the city." But he seemed to his sons-in-law to be joking.
      15 When the morning came, then the angels hurried Lot, saying, "Get up! Take your wife, and your two daughters who are here, lest you be consumed in the iniquity of the city."
      16 But he lingered; and the men grabbed his hand, his wife's hand, and his two daughters' hands, Yahweh being merciful to him; and they took him out, and set him outside of the city.
      17 It came to pass, when they had taken them out, that he said, "Escape for your life! Don't look behind you, and don't stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, lest you be consumed!"
      18 Lot said to them, "Oh, not so, my lord.
      19 See now, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have magnified your loving kindness, which you have shown to me in saving my life. I can't escape to the mountain, lest evil overtake me, and I die.
      20 See now, this city is near to flee to, and it is a little one. Oh let me escape there (isn't it a little one?), and my soul will live."
      21 He said to him, "Behold, I have granted your request concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow the city of which you have spoken.
      22 Hurry, escape there, for I can't do anything until you get there." Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.
      23 The sun had risen on the earth when Lot came to Zoar.
      24 Then Yahweh rained on Sodom and on Gomorrah sulfur and fire from Yahweh out of the sky.
      25 He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew on the ground.
      26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
      27 Abraham got up early in the morning to the place where he had stood before Yahweh.
      28 He looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and looked, and saw that the smoke of the land went up as the smoke of a furnace.
      29 It happened, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the middle of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in which Lot lived.
      30 Lot went up out of Zoar, and lived in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he was afraid to live in Zoar. He lived in a cave with his two daughters.
      31 The firstborn said to the younger, "Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in to us in the way of all the earth.
      32 Come, let's make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve our father's seed."
      33 They made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father. He didn't know when she lay down, nor when she arose.
      34 It came to pass on the next day, that the firstborn said to the younger, "Behold, I lay last night with my father. Let us make him drink wine again, tonight. You go in, and lie with him, that we may preserve our father's seed."
      35 They made their father drink wine that night also. The younger went and lay with him. He didn't know when she lay down, nor when she got up.
      36 Thus both of Lot's daughters were with child by their father.
      37 The firstborn bore a son, and named him Moab. He is the father of the Moabites to this day.
      38 The younger also bore a son, and called his name Ben Ammi. He is the father of the children of Ammon to this day.

      Ezéchiel 16

      46 Your elder sister is Samaria, who dwells at your left hand, she and her daughters; and your younger sister, who dwells at your right hand, is Sodom and her daughters.
