Philippiens 2.1

Si donc il y a quelque consolation en Christ, si quelque soulagement d'amour, si quelque communion de l'Esprit, si quelque tendresse et quelques compassions,
N’avez-vous pas trouvé dans le Christ un réconfort, dans l’amour un encouragement, par l’Esprit une communion entre vous ? N’avez-vous pas de l’affection et de la bonté les uns pour les autres ?
S’il y a donc de l’encouragement en Christ, s'il y a de la consolation dans l'amour, s'il y a une communion de l’Esprit, s'il y a de la tendresse et de la compassion,

Il y a dans ce texte des exhortations supplémentaires de Paul, relatives aux devoirs chrétiens : nous trouvons une recherche de sentiments et d’humilité semblables à ceux donnés par l'exemple du Seigneur Jésus.

La prévenance est la loi du Royaume de Christ, elle fait partie de Ses préceptes. Plusieurs exhortations à pratiquer l'amour fraternel sont ici mentionnées. Si vous attendez ou goûtez aux avantages des compassions de Dieu à votre égard, soyez aussi compatissants mutuellement.

Les serviteurs de Dieu sont dans la joie de voir les membres de l’église ainsi disposés. Christ est venu ici-bas pour nous enseigner l’humilité, pour qu’il n’y ait parmi nous aucun sentiment de supériorité. Nous devons rester intransigeants quant à la tolérance de nos propres fautes ; soyons prompts à relever quels sont nos défauts, mais soyons toujours disposés à juger favorablement les autres.

Nous devons rechercher le bien de notre prochain, sans toutefois nous insérer dans ce qui le concerne personnellement. Aucune paix ne peut résider en notre cœur, sans humilité...
