Philippiens 2.27

Quelle tendre délicatesse de l'amour chrétien se montre dans tous ces rapports personnels ! Epaphrodite souffre de ce que ses amis de Philippes ont appris sa grave maladie et en auront été affligés ; Paul se hâte de le leur envoyer pour leur consolation mutuelle, (verset 25) et il regarde la guérison de son frère comme une miséricordieuse dispensation de Dieu envers lui-même, afin qu'il n'eût pas tristesse sur tristesse !

On voit combien l'héroïque dévouement jusqu'à la mort, dont l'apôtre vient de donner la preuve, (verset 17) est loin d'éteindre dans son cœur les sentiments humains.
