Psaumes 65.8

Et ceux qui habitent aux bouts de la terre, craignent à la vue de tes prodiges ; tu fais chanter de joie et le Levant et le Couchant.

Cette mention des montagnes, qui restent inébranlables sous le choc des vagues, fournit au psalmiste une image frappante de la sécurité que Dieu procure à son peuple, au milieu des nations soulevées contre lui. Non seulement ce peuple résiste à tous les assauts, mais l'agitation même de la mer, comme celle des peuples, cesse au commandement de Dieu. Comparez Marc 4.39. L'analogie entre les peuples soulevés et la mer agitée revient fréquemment dans la prophétie (Esaïe 17.12-13 ; Daniel 7.3 ; Apocalypse 13.1).
