Dans le choix des grands dirigeants de sa cour, la sagesse de Salomon se manifestait. Plusieurs de ces gouvernants étaient déjà en place, du temps de son père, le roi David. Une planification était établie, de façon à ce qu'aucune partie du pays ne soit démunie en alimentant sa cour, après avoir payé son tribut.
