Beaucoup de personnes ne se soucient guère de « l’au-delà », parce qu'elles sont « endormies » spirituellement, ou qu’elles sont occupées à poursuivre les « illusions » de ce monde.

Notre retenue envers toutes les convoitises de cette terre doit être connue de tous. Est-ce que de véritables chrétiens, dont le visage reflète la lumière de l'Évangile, resteraient insouciants quant au salut de leur âme et leur devenir dans l’au-delà ?

Nous avons besoin de l'armure spirituelle et de ces trois « grâces » chrétiennes : la foi, l'amour, et l'espérance. - La foi : si nous croyons que le regard de Dieu est toujours sur nous et qu'Il nous a réservé une place dans Son Royaume, nous devons nous préparer spirituellement ; c’est une excellente raison pour veiller et être sobres ! - L'amour véritable et fervent pour Dieu, et tout ce Qui le concerne, nous gardera également vigilants et sobres. Si nous avons l'espérance du salut, prenons garde à tout ce qui ébranlerait notre confiance dans le Seigneur. - L’espérance : nous avons une réel fondement pour cette dernière, lorsque nous considérons que notre salut repose sur notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, Celui qui est mort pour nous, pour expier nos péchés et racheter notre âme.

Nous devons joindre ces trois « grâces » chrétiennes à notre prière et notre louange. Nous ne devons donner que de bons exemples aux autres, dans le but de répondre au mieux aux interrogations de notre entourage, en ce qui concerne notre piété. Nous apprendrons ainsi comment vivre pour Celui avec qui nous espérons vivre pour l'éternité !
