2 Corinthiens 11.18

Dans ces deux versets (versets 17,18) Paul exprime positivement la pensée qui le dirige et qui est exposée au verset 1, note.

Se glorifier, même en restant dans les termes de la plus stricte vérité quant aux faits, cela n'est pas selon le Seigneur, conforme à son Esprit, à ses rapports avec nous, en qui il ne peut voir que de pauvres pécheurs privés de toute gloire ; cela ne peut avoir lieu que selon la chair, (verset 18) d'après les insinuations du cœur orgueilleux de l'homme, en vue, non de grâces spirituelles, mais d'avantages tout extérieurs.

Par ces paroles, Paul condamne encore une fois ceux qui se glorifient ainsi selon la chair, et déclare hautement qu'il ne le fait lui-même que comme insensé (versets 17,21) et dans le but indiqué verset 1, note.
