World English Bible They broke down the pillar of Baal, and broke down the house of Baal, and made it a latrine, to this day.

La statue : la principale statue, qui était en pierre et qui fut mise en pièces. Un historien païen décrit ainsi la statue de Baal : Baal était représenté sous la forme d'un homme qui marche tenant en mains un sceptre, un poignard et une hache, symboles de sa puissance.

Cloaque, proprement : latrines.

Jusqu à ce jour : l'auteur de ce récit écrivait donc vraisemblablement avant la ruine de Samarie en 722.
