Mais Joschéba, fille du roi Joram, soeur d'Achazia, prit Joas, fils d'Achazia, et l'enleva du milieu des fils du roi, quand on les fit mourir : elle le mit avec sa nourrice dans la chambre des lits. Il fut ainsi dérobé aux regards d'Athalie, et ne fut point mis à mort.

Fille du roi Joram : vraisemblablement d'une autre mère qu'Athalie ; celle-ci n'aurait pas autorisé le mariage de sa propre fille avec le grand sacrificateur de Jéhova.

La chambre des lits : un garde-meubles, appartement retiré où l'on pouvait cacher l'enfant. C'était probablement une de ces chambres qui entouraient le temple (1Rois 6.5 et suivants).
