Destruction des instruments du culte idolâtre.

Aux sacrificateurs de second rang. Si ce mot était au singulier, nous devrions penser au sacrificateur particulier qui remplissait le rôle de vice-grand sacrificateur d'après 25.18. Comme il y a le pluriel, il est naturel d'entendre les sacrificateurs en général, en tant que subordonnés au souverain sacrificateur.

Quelle incroyable méchanceté pouvait-on trouver alors en Juda et à Jérusalem ! On n'aurait jamais cru qu'il soit possible de voir de telles abominations dans le pays de Juda, là où Dieu s'est fait connaître, en Israël, où Son Nom était si grand, et à Salem, dans la ville de Sion, où était Sa demeure.

Josias a régné dix-huit ans, et a montré le bon exemple au peuple, en maintenant la religion, selon la Loi divine ; quand le roi s'attaqua à l'idolâtrie alors en vigueur, il put constater à quel point sa profondeur et son ampleur étaient profondes.

L'histoire et de nombreux passages de la Parole de Dieu, enseignent que toute véritable piété ou bonté ici-bas, découle en fait de l'Esprit nouveau, que donne Jésus-Christ à Ses enfants.
