World English Bible But he said, "As Yahweh lives, before whom I stand, I will receive none." He urged him to take it; but he refused.

Par son refus Elisée veut éviter ce qui pourrait affaiblir dans l'esprit de ce païen l'effet moral que doit produire sur lui cette guérison. L'acceptation d'une récompense eût rabaissé aux yeux de celui-ci le prophétisme israélite au niveau de la sorcellerie païenne. Comparez sur tout ce récit Luc 4.27.
