La couleur du cheval roux (grec de feu) figure le sang répandu. Le cavalier qui le monte représente la guerre universelle. Il a le pouvoir d'enlever la paix de la terre, et non pas seulement "du pays" de Canaan, comme traduisent quelques interprètes.
