Ou d'entre les étrangers, littéralement : tes étrangers ; voir Exode 23.6, note ; mais ce passage ne parlait pas encore du mercenaire étranger. Pour les égards dûs aux étrangers en général, voir Exode 22.21 ; 23.9 ; Deutéronome 10.19, et dans notre chapitre les versets 14 et 18.

Il est facile d'imaginer que la pureté, la piété, la justice, une bonne conduite, la libéralité envers le pauvre, la prise en considération des démunis et la générosité d'esprit, ne peuvent que plaire à Dieu : ces qualités sont le fruit produit par les rachetés. La difficulté consiste à mettre en pratique toutes ces vertus, dans notre conduite journalière !
