Il t'a fait (non pas laissé) avoir faim : afin de te montrer que c'est lui qui nourrit.

Que tu ne connaissais pas. Voir Exode 16.15 : Ils ne savaient ce que c'était.

De tout ce qui sort... Le pain lui-même, qui semble posséder d'une manière inaliénable la propriété, de nourrir, n'a cette propriété que par la parole créatrice qui lui a donné cette vertu (Genèse 1.29). Or cette parole peut communiquer aussi cette propriété à d'autres éléments ; elle peut les créer même comme la manne ou bien l'aider à s'en passer en le soutenant par l'exécution même de la volonté divine (Jean 4.32-34). Cette parole est opposée à la tendance que nous avons de faire de la nature la source des biens dont nous jouissons, sans remonter jusqu'à la cause de la nature elle-même.
