Tribu souvent citée (Ge 10:16 15:20, De 7:1, Jos 3:10 24:11,1Ch 1:14, Ne 9:8).

Ces passages ne projettent guère de lumière sur ce peuple : descendant de Canaan d'après Ge 10:18, et d'après Jos 24:11 établi probablement à l'Ouest du Jourdain, non loin de Jérico.
