PADDAN-ARAM

(peut-être =champs d'Aram ; cf. les plaines d'Aram, ou de Syrie, dans Os 12:13).

Désignation, dans P (Ge 25:20 28:2,5,7 31:18, etc., Ge 48:7 : Paddan), de la région appelée par J (Ge 24:10) Aram-Naharaïm (=Aram aux deux fleuves), c-à-d, la Mésopotamie (voir ce mot), comme traduisent nos versions à la suite de celle des LXX Il s'agit probablement de la Mésopotamie septentrionale, pays de Caran (voir cartes, pl. I et II du t. I er).
