Désignant de beaux jardins d'agrément, cette traduction de la Vers. Syn. est assez juste pour rendre le mot hébreu d'origine perse pardes (voir Éden, Paradis) dans Ne 2:8, Ec 2:5 ; lorsqu'il est question d'arbres fruitiers) (Ec 2:3, Ca 4:13 [V S. : bocage), mieux vaudrait traduire par : verger (voir ce mot, et Jardin).

Les gideroth sont généralement des parcs à brebis ou à petit bétail (No 32:16-24,36,1Sa 24:4, Sop 2:6), des bergeries (voir Vie pastorale) ; mais dans 1Ch 4:23, il s'agit plutôt de remparts que de parcs. Dans Ge 25:16, au lieu de parc (Sg.), il faut lire, pour khâtsâr, village (V S., Bbl. Cent.) ; dans Esa 35:7, au lieu de parc (V S.), il faut lire, pour khâtsîr, demeure ; et dans le célèbre psaume du Berger (Ps 23:2), au lieu des « parcs herbeux » de nos anciennes traductions (Ost., etc.), les neôth dèchè du texte sont de « verts pâturages » (Sg., VS., etc.).
