Dignité et pouvoir d'un prince ; ou pays gouverné par un prince. Ce terme est employé dans le premier sens par quelques versions (Ost., Bbl. Cent.) pour rendre le pluriel grec arkhaï (d'arkhôn =prince), au cours des énumérations où l'apôtre Paul évoque des êtres surnaturels, anges ou démons, plus ou moins hiérarchisés sous l'empire souverain soit de Dieu soit du Diable : « autorités, dominations, puissances, principautés, etc. » (cf. Ro 8:38,1Co 15:24, Eph 1:21 3:10 6:12, Col 1:16 2:10,15) Voir Prince, III, 1 ; Domination ; Ange.
