TSÉRUJA

Mère de trois des guerriers de David, Abisaï, Joab et Asaël (2Sa 2:18,1Ch 2:16). Abisaï est dit fils de Tséruja (1Sa 26:6,2Sa 16:9,1Ch 18:12 etc.), Joab de même (2Sa 2:13 8:16,1Ch 18:1 et suivant, etc.), Abisaï et Joab ensemble dans 2Sa 3:39 16:10 19:22 ; mais nulle part n'est donné le nom de leur père, soit que celui-ci fût mort, soit que leur mère l'eût éclipsé par sa personnalité particulièrement remarquable : certains auteurs y voient une survivance de l'ancienne coutume de suivre la parenté par les femmes (matriarcat).

Quant à sa propre origine, Tséruja était, d'après 2Sa 17:25, fille de Nahas ; mais d'après 1Ch 2:16 elle était soeur de David, ce qui en ferait une fille d'Isaï.
