10 à 12 Impuissance de l'homme en face de ce qui a été décidé par Dieu. Nouvelle démonstration de la folie qu'il y a de sa part à laisser Dieu en dehors de ses calculs et à vouloir se substituer à la Providence et lui forcer la main.

Ce qui existe a dès longtemps été appelé par son nom. Non pas : s'est déjà souvent produit dans le monde (1.9) ; mais : Ce qui arrive a été déterminé longtemps d'avance et existait aux yeux de Dieu. On donne un nom aux enfants quand ils naissent, aux choses quand elles se produisent. Devant Dieu, ce qui arrive existait et par conséquent avait un nom.

Ce qu'un homme sera est déterminé. Il ne s'agit pas ici de l'attitude morale que l'homme prendra vis-à-vis de Dieu, mais des circonstances extérieures de sa vie. Voir déjà 3.14. A quoi bon contester avec un Dieu pareil ? (Job 39.37-38)
