La dispensation (comparez Ephésiens 1.10) confiée à Paul était, à la fois, le conseil de la grâce de Dieu pour le salut des pécheurs de toutes les nations, et la vocation spéciale de cet apôtre à en devenir le ministre parmi les Gentils (pour vous). Cette pensée est développée Ephésiens 3.3-10.

- Ces mots : si toutefois vous avez appris, etc., prouvent avec évidence que notre épître n'a pu être adressée aux Ephésiens seuls, qui connaissaient si bien l'apôtre et la nature de son ministère. (Voir l'introd.)
