A partir de ce verset les accusations les plus graves sont portées coup sur coup contre Job avec une désinvolture surprenante. Eliphaz n'avance aucune preuve : il ne fait que conclure des malheurs de Job à sa culpabilité.

Les gages : Tu exploitais les difficultés où pouvaient se trouver tes voisins.

Les pauvres, littéralement : les nus, ceux qui déjà n'avaient que peu de vêtements.
