    • Genèse 6

      1 Les êtres humains deviennent très nombreux sur la terre et ils mettent au monde des filles.
      2 Les habitants du ciel voient que ces filles sont belles et ils choisissent leurs femmes parmi elles.
      3 Alors le SEIGNEUR se dit : « Le souffle de vie que j’ai donné aux êtres humains ne restera pas toujours en eux. En effet, ils vont mourir un jour. À partir de maintenant, ils ne vivront pas plus de 120 ans. »
      4 En ce temps-là, il y a des géants sur la terre. Il y en a encore quand les habitants du ciel viennent trouver les filles des humains et ils ont avec elles des enfants. Ce sont les héros d’autrefois, des hommes célèbres.
      5 Le SEIGNEUR voit que sur la terre, les êtres humains sont de plus en plus méchants. Et toute la journée, dans leur cœur, ils ne pensent qu’à faire le mal.
      6 Le SEIGNEUR regrette d’avoir fait les humains sur la terre, et son cœur est rempli de tristesse.
      7 Le SEIGNEUR se dit : « Je vais faire disparaître de la terre les humains que j’ai créés, les grands animaux, les petites bêtes, et même les oiseaux. Vraiment, je regrette de les avoir faits. »
      8 Mais le SEIGNEUR se montre bon pour Noé.
      9 Voici l’histoire de Noé. Noé est le père de trois fils : Sem, Cham et Japhet. Parmi les hommes de son époque, Noé est un homme juste, il fait ce qui plaît à Dieu. Il suit le chemin de Dieu.
      11 Mais aux yeux de Dieu, les habitants de la terre sont pourris : le monde est rempli de violence.
      12 Dieu regarde la terre. Il voit qu’elle est pourrie. En effet, tous les habitants se conduisent très mal.
      13 Alors Dieu dit à Noé : « J’ai décidé d’en finir avec les humains. Le monde est rempli de violence à cause d’eux. Je vais donc les détruire avec la terre.
      14 Construis pour toi une sorte de grand bateau en bois solide. À l’intérieur tu le diviseras en plusieurs parties. Tu le couvriras de goudron à l’intérieur et à l’extérieur.
      15 Voici comment tu feras ce bateau : il devra avoir 150 mètres de long, 25 mètres de large et 15 mètres de haut.
      16 Tu le couvriras d’un toit et tu laisseras 50 centimètres entre le toit et les côtés du bateau. Tu mettras la porte du bateau sur le côté. Tu feras trois étages.
      17 Et moi, je vais faire venir sur la terre une grande inondation. L’eau fera mourir tout ce qui vit sous le ciel. Tout ce qui se trouve sur la terre sera détruit.
      18 Mais je vais faire alliance avec toi. Tu entreras dans le bateau, toi, tes fils, ta femme et les femmes de tes fils avec toi.
      19 Tu devras faire entrer aussi dans le bateau un couple de chaque espèce vivante, un mâle et une femelle, pour les garder en vie avec toi.
      20 Deux animaux de chaque espèce, oiseaux, grands animaux et petites bêtes, viendront avec toi pour rester en vie.
      21 Et toi, prends toute sorte de nourriture, mets-la de côté. Ainsi vous aurez ce qu’il faut pour manger, eux et toi. »
      22 Noé obéit. Il fait exactement ce que Dieu lui a commandé.

      Genèse 7

      1 Le SEIGNEUR dit à Noé : « Entre dans le bateau avec ta famille. En effet, je le vois : tu es le seul juste parmi les hommes de ton époque.
      2 Parmi les animaux purs, prends sept couples de chaque espèce, un mâle et sa femelle. Parmi les animaux impurs, prends un couple de chaque espèce, un mâle et sa femelle.
      3 Pour les oiseaux, prends aussi sept couples de chaque espèce, un mâle et sa femelle. Ainsi, on conservera leur race sur toute la terre.
      4 Dans sept jours, je vais faire tomber la pluie pendant 40 jours et 40 nuits. Je vais faire disparaître de la terre tous les êtres que j’ai faits. »
      5 Noé fait tout ce que le SEIGNEUR lui a commandé.
      6 Noé a 600 ans quand la grande inondation arrive sur la terre.
      7 Il entre dans le bateau avec ses fils, sa femme et les femmes de ses fils, pour fuir l’inondation.
      8 Les animaux purs, les animaux impurs, les oiseaux et toutes les bêtes qui remuent sur le sol,
      9 tous viennent auprès de Noé dans le bateau. Ils sont deux par deux, mâle et femelle, comme Dieu l’a commandé à Noé.
      10 Au bout de sept jours, l’eau de la grande inondation couvre toute la terre.
      11 L’année où Noé a 600 ans, le deuxième mois, le 17 du mois, toutes les sources de l’océan immense situé sous la terre jaillissent, et les fenêtres du ciel s’ouvrent toutes grandes.
      12 La pluie tombe sur la terre pendant 40 jours et 40 nuits.
      13 Ce jour-là, Noé entre dans le bateau avec ses fils, Sem, Cham et Japhet, avec sa femme et avec les trois femmes de ses fils.
      14 Il entre avec toutes les espèces d’animaux, les animaux sauvages et les animaux domestiques, les petites bêtes qui se déplacent sur le sol, les oiseaux et les insectes.
      15 Deux animaux de chaque espèce vivante viennent auprès de Noé dans le bateau.
      16 Un mâle et une femelle de chaque espèce entrent là, comme Dieu l’a commandé. Puis le SEIGNEUR ferme la porte derrière Noé.
      17 Sur la terre, la grande inondation dure 40 jours. L’eau monte, elle soulève le bateau, et celui-ci se tient sur l’eau au-dessus de la terre.
      18 L’eau monte de plus en plus, et le bateau flotte sur l’eau.
      19 L’eau continue à monter au-dessus de la terre et elle couvre toutes les hautes montagnes qui sont sous le ciel.
      20 L’eau monte de sept mètres au-dessus des montagnes et elle les couvre toutes.
      21 Alors tous les êtres vivants qui se déplacent sur la terre meurent : les oiseaux, les animaux domestiques, les animaux sauvages, les petites bêtes qui s’agitent sur la terre, et aussi tous les humains.
      22 Tous les êtres vivants qui ont un souffle de vie et qui vivent sur la terre solide, meurent.
      23 Ainsi, le SEIGNEUR fait disparaître de la terre tout ce qui vit : les êtres humains, les grands animaux, les petites bêtes et même les oiseaux. Ils disparaissent de la terre. Il reste seulement Noé et ceux qui sont avec lui dans le bateau.
      24 L’eau monte au-dessus de la terre pendant 150 jours.

      Genèse 8

      1 Dieu se souvient de Noé, de toutes les bêtes et de tous les grands animaux qui sont avec lui dans le bateau. Dieu fait souffler un vent sur la terre, et l’eau commence à baisser.
      2 Les sources d’eau sous la terre ne coulent plus, et les fenêtres du ciel se ferment. La pluie s’arrête,
      3 et l’eau quitte la terre petit à petit.
      4 Le septième mois, le dix-septième jour du mois, le bateau se pose sur les montagnes de l’Ararat.
      5 L’eau baisse jusqu’au dixième mois. Le premier jour de ce mois, on voit apparaître les sommets des montagnes.
      6 Noé avait fait une fenêtre dans le bateau. Au bout de 40 jours, il ouvre la fenêtre.
      7 Il envoie un corbeau dehors. Celui-ci sort, s’en va et revient plusieurs fois. Il attend que l’eau sèche sur la terre.
      8 Puis Noé envoie une colombe dehors. Il veut voir si l’eau a baissé.
      9 Mais la colombe ne trouve pas d’endroit où poser ses pattes. L’eau couvre encore toute la terre. Alors elle revient vers le bateau, auprès de Noé. Noé tend la main, il prend la colombe et il la fait rentrer dans le bateau.
      10 Noé attend encore sept jours. Puis il envoie de nouveau la colombe dehors.
      11 Vers le soir, elle revient auprès de Noé. Dans son bec, elle tient une jeune tige d’olivier. Ainsi Noé sait que l’eau a baissé sur la terre.
      12 Il attend encore sept jours et il envoie la colombe dehors. Mais elle ne revient plus.
      13 Quand Noé a 601 ans, le premier jour du premier mois, il n’y a plus d’eau sur la terre. Noé enlève le toit du bateau. Il regarde dehors : la surface de la terre est sèche.
      14 Le deuxième mois, le vingt-septième jour de ce mois, la terre est complètement sèche.
      15 Dieu dit à Noé :
      16 « Sors du bateau, toi, ta femme, tes fils et les femmes de tes fils.
      17 Fais sortir aussi toutes les espèces d’animaux qui sont avec toi : tous les oiseaux, tous les grands animaux et toutes les petites bêtes qui se déplacent sur le sol. Qu’ils remplissent la terre, qu’ils fassent des petits et deviennent nombreux ! »
      18 Alors Noé sort, avec ses fils, sa femme et les femmes de ses fils.
      19 Tous les animaux, toutes les petites bêtes, tous les oiseaux, tout ce qui se déplace sur le sol, sortent du bateau par familles.
      20 Noé construit un autel pour le SEIGNEUR. Parmi les grands animaux et parmi les oiseaux qui sont purs, il prend une bête de chaque espèce. Puis il les brûle entièrement sur l’autel en sacrifice pour le SEIGNEUR.
      21 Le SEIGNEUR respire la bonne odeur du sacrifice et il dit dans son cœur : « Maintenant, je ne maudirai plus le sol à cause des humains. C’est vrai, leur cœur désire faire le mal dès leur jeunesse. Mais je ne détruirai plus tout ce qui est vivant, comme je viens de le faire.
      22 Tant que la terre durera, on sèmera et on récoltera. Il fera froid, il fera chaud. Il y aura la mauvaise saison, il y aura la belle saison. Il fera jour, il fera nuit. Ce sera toujours ainsi. »

      Genèse 9

      1 Dieu bénit Noé et ses fils. Il leur dit : « Ayez des enfants, devenez nombreux, remplissez la terre.
      2 À partir de maintenant, tous les animaux de la terre, tous les oiseaux, toutes les petites bêtes qui se déplacent sur le sol et tous les poissons auront très peur de vous. Je vous les donne,
      3 comme je vous avais déjà donné les plantes. Maintenant, tout ce qui se déplace et qui est vivant servira à vous nourrir. Je vous donne tout cela.
      4 Mais vous ne mangerez pas la viande avec sa vie, c’est-à-dire avec son sang.
      5 Votre sang aussi, c’est votre vie. C’est pourquoi, si un animal ou une personne tue quelqu’un, je lui demanderai compte de cette vie. À chacun, je demanderai compte de la vie d’un être humain.
      6 Celui qui fait couler le sang d’un être humain, un autre humain fera couler son sang. En effet, Dieu a créé les humains à son image.
      7 Et vous, ayez des enfants, devenez nombreux. Installez-vous en grand nombre sur la terre et remplissez-la. »
      8 Alors Dieu dit à Noé et à ses fils :
      9 « Je vais faire alliance avec vous, avec vos enfants et avec les enfants de leurs enfants.
      10 C’est aussi une alliance avec tous les êtres vivants qui sont autour de vous : avec les oiseaux, les animaux domestiques ou sauvages, donc avec tous ceux qui sont sortis du bateau et tous ceux qui vivront sur la terre.
      11 Je fais alliance avec vous : l’eau de la grande inondation ne détruira plus jamais la vie sur la terre. Il n’y aura plus de grande inondation pour détruire la terre. » Dieu dit encore :
      12 « Voici le signe de mon alliance. Je le mets entre moi et vous, entre moi et tous les êtres vivants qui sont autour de vous. Ce signe sera valable pour tous ceux qui naîtront après vous.
      13 Je mets mon arc dans les nuages, il sera le signe de l’alliance entre moi et la terre.
      14 Quand je ferai venir les nuages au-dessus de la terre, quand l’arc-en-ciel apparaîtra dans les nuages,
      15 je penserai à mon alliance avec vous et avec tous les êtres vivants. Il n’y aura plus jamais de grande inondation pour détruire la vie.
      16 Quand l’arc sera dans les nuages, je le verrai. Et je me souviendrai de l’alliance que j’ai faite pour toujours avec tous les êtres vivants de la terre. »
      17 Et Dieu redit à Noé : « L’arc-en-ciel est le signe de l’alliance que je fais entre moi et tous les êtres vivants qui sont sur la terre. »

      1 It happened, when men began to multiply on the surface of the ground, and daughters were born to them,
      2 that God's sons saw that men's daughters were beautiful, and they took for themselves wives of all that they chose.
      3 Yahweh said, "My Spirit will not strive with man forever, because he also is flesh; yet will his days be one hundred twenty years."
      4 The Nephilim were in the earth in those days, and also after that, when God's sons came in to men's daughters. They bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.
      5 Yahweh saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
      6 Yahweh was sorry that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him in his heart.
      7 Yahweh said, "I will destroy man whom I have created from the surface of the ground; man, along with animals, creeping things, and birds of the sky; for I am sorry that I have made them."
      8 But Noah found favor in Yahweh's eyes.
      9 This is the history of the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time. Noah walked with God.
      10 Noah became the father of three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
      11 The earth was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
      12 God saw the earth, and saw that it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.
      13 God said to Noah, "The end of all flesh has come before me, for the earth is filled with violence through them. Behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
      14 Make a ship of gopher wood. You shall make rooms in the ship, and shall seal it inside and outside with pitch.
      15 This is how you shall make it. The length of the ship will be three hundred cubits, its breadth fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits.
      16 You shall make a roof in the ship, and you shall finish it to a cubit upward. You shall set the door of the ship in its side. You shall make it with lower, second, and third levels.
      17 I, even I, do bring the flood of waters on this earth, to destroy all flesh having the breath of life from under the sky. Everything that is in the earth will die.
      18 But I will establish my covenant with you. You shall come into the ship, you, your sons, your wife, and your sons' wives with you.
      19 Of every living thing of all flesh, you shall bring two of every sort into the ship, to keep them alive with you. They shall be male and female.
      20 Of the birds after their kind, of the livestock after their kind, of every creeping thing of the ground after its kind, two of every sort shall come to you, to keep them alive.
      21 Take with you of all food that is eaten, and gather it to yourself; and it will be for food for you, and for them."
      22 Thus Noah did. According to all that God commanded him, so he did.

      Genèse 7

      1 Yahweh said to Noah, "Come with all of your household into the ship, for I have seen your righteousness before me in this generation.
      2 You shall take seven pairs of every clean animal with you, the male and his female. Of the animals that are not clean, take two, the male and his female.
      3 Also of the birds of the sky, seven and seven, male and female, to keep seed alive on the surface of all the earth.
      4 In seven days, I will cause it to rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights. Every living thing that I have made, I will destroy from the surface of the ground."
      5 Noah did everything that Yahweh commanded him.
      6 Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters came on the earth.
      7 Noah went into the ship with his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives, because of the waters of the flood.
      8 Clean animals, animals that are not clean, birds, and everything that creeps on the ground
      9 went by pairs to Noah into the ship, male and female, as God commanded Noah.
      10 It happened after the seven days, that the waters of the flood came on the earth.
      11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the same day all the fountains of the great deep were burst open, and the sky's windows were opened.
      12 The rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights.
      13 In the same day Noah, and Shem, Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, entered into the ship;
      14 they, and every animal after its kind, all the livestock after their kind, every creeping thing that creeps on the earth after its kind, and every bird after its kind, every bird of every sort.
      15 They went to Noah into the ship, by pairs of all flesh with the breath of life in them.
      16 Those who went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God commanded him; and Yahweh shut him in.
      17 The flood was forty days on the earth. The waters increased, and lifted up the ship, and it was lifted up above the earth.
      18 The waters prevailed, and increased greatly on the earth; and the ship floated on the surface of the waters.
      19 The waters prevailed exceedingly on the earth. All the high mountains that were under the whole sky were covered.
      20 The waters prevailed fifteen cubits upward, and the mountains were covered.
      21 All flesh died that moved on the earth, including birds, livestock, animals, every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and every man.
      22 All in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, of all that was on the dry land, died.
      23 Every living thing was destroyed that was on the surface of the ground, including man, livestock, creeping things, and birds of the sky. They were destroyed from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those who were with him in the ship.
      24 The waters prevailed on the earth one hundred fifty days.

      Genèse 8

      1 God remembered Noah, all the animals, and all the livestock that were with him in the ship; and God made a wind to pass over the earth. The waters subsided.
      2 The deep's fountains and the sky's windows were also stopped, and the rain from the sky was restrained.
      3 The waters receded from the earth continually. After the end of one hundred fifty days the waters decreased.
      4 The ship rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on Ararat's mountains.
      5 The waters receded continually until the tenth month. In the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains were seen.
      6 It happened at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ship which he had made,
      7 and he sent out a raven. It went back and forth, until the waters were dried up from the earth.
      8 He sent out a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from the surface of the ground,
      9 but the dove found no place to rest her foot, and she returned to him into the ship; for the waters were on the surface of the whole earth. He put out his hand, and took her, and brought her to him into the ship.
      10 He stayed yet another seven days; and again he sent the dove out of the ship.
      11 The dove came back to him at evening, and, behold, in her mouth was an olive leaf plucked off. So Noah knew that the waters were abated from the earth.
      12 He stayed yet another seven days, and sent out the dove; and she didn't return to him any more.
      13 It happened in the six hundred first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from the earth. Noah removed the covering of the ship, and looked. He saw that the surface of the ground was dried.
      14 In the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry.
      15 God spoke to Noah, saying,
      16 "Go out of the ship, you, and your wife, and your sons, and your sons' wives with you.
      17 Bring out with you every living thing that is with you of all flesh, including birds, livestock, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply on the earth."
      18 Noah went out, with his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives with him.
      19 Every animal, every creeping thing, and every bird, whatever moves on the earth, after their families, went out of the ship.
      20 Noah built an altar to Yahweh, and took of every clean animal, and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
      21 Yahweh smelled the pleasant aroma. Yahweh said in his heart, "I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake, because the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I ever again strike everything living, as I have done.
      22 While the earth remains, seed time and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease."

      Genèse 9

      1 God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them, "Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.
      2 The fear of you and the dread of you will be on every animal of the earth, and on every bird of the sky. Everything that the ground teems with, and all the fish of the sea are delivered into your hand.
      3 Every moving thing that lives will be food for you. As the green herb, I have given everything to you.
      4 But flesh with its life, its blood, you shall not eat.
      5 I will surely require your blood of your lives. At the hand of every animal I will require it. At the hand of man, even at the hand of every man's brother, I will require the life of man.
      6 Whoever sheds man's blood, his blood will be shed by man, for God made man in his own image.
      7 Be fruitful and multiply. Increase abundantly in the earth, and multiply in it."
      8 God spoke to Noah and to his sons with him, saying,
      9 "As for me, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your offspring after you,
      10 and with every living creature that is with you: the birds, the livestock, and every animal of the earth with you, of all that go out of the ship, even every animal of the earth.
      11 I will establish my covenant with you: all flesh will not be cut off any more by the waters of the flood, neither will there ever again be a flood to destroy the earth."
      12 God said, "This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:
      13 I set my rainbow in the cloud, and it will be for a sign of a covenant between me and the earth.
      14 It will happen, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow will be seen in the cloud,
      15 and I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh, and the waters will no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
      16 The rainbow will be in the cloud. I will look at it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth."
      17 God said to Noah, "This is the token of the covenant which I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth."
