1 à 6 L'assurance de la foi. Le psalmiste sait que la protection divine le met à l'abri de toute crainte (versets 1 à 3). Son seul désir est d'être toujours auprès de l'Eternel (versets 4 à 6). Ses sentiments de joyeuse sécurité s'expriment en des vers ou stiches d'une grande envergure, nettement divisés par une césure. Nous avons été obligés, le plus souvent, de consacrer à la seconde partie du vers une ligne distincte. Le premier stiche, par exemple, ne se termine que par ces mots : De qui aurais-je peur ?

1 à 3 Victoire certaine. Le danger est pressenti. mais il paraît être encore éloigné, et le croyant, fort de ses expériences passees, ne craint rien.

La foi du psalmiste. (Psaumes 27:1-6)
Son désir de s'approcher de Dieu, l'espoir qu'il a en Lui. (Psaumes 27:7-14)

Le Seigneur, qui est la lumière du croyant, est la force de sa vie ; le chrétien vit non seulement par cette force, mais il se dirige par elle. Oh Dieu, fortifie-nous. La présence de Dieu, pleine de grâce, sa puissance, sa promesse, sa disponibilité à écouter la prière, le témoignage de Son Esprit dans les cœurs, tel est le secret de son tabernacle dans lequel les saints trouvent toute leur sécurité spirituelle, la paix de l'âme dans laquelle ils demeurent à l'aise. Le psalmiste prie en faveur d'une communion constante avec Dieu dans ses saintes ordonnances.

Tous les enfants de Dieu désirent demeurer dans la maison du Père. Non pas pour séjourner une nuit, en tant que voyageur itinérant, ou temporairement, comme une servante qui ne veut pas rester dans la maison de ses maîtres toute sa vie, mais pour demeurer tous les jours de leur vie, comme des enfants avec un Père. Croyons-nous que nos prières à Dieu seront les bénédictions de notre éternité ? Nous devrions certainement y consacrer beaucoup de notre temps. Nous devrions avoir cela à cœur plus que tout autre chose. Quel que soit l'état de la vie du chrétien, il doit considérer la faveur ou la grâce divine comme la chose la plus nécessaire. C'est ce qu'il doit désirer, demander dans la prière, rechercher, et en tout cela il se réjouira.
