Les mauvais juges sont décriés et réprouvés. (Psaumes 58:1-5)
Prière qu'ils soient suspendus de leur fonction et prédictions de leur ruine. (Psaumes 58:6-11)

Il n'y a rien de pire que la pratique du mal dans un contexte légal ; il est particulièrement grave de voir ceux qui professent être enfants de Dieu, s'unir contre le peuple de Dieu.

Nous devrions remercier le Seigneur pour sa miséricordieuse patience ; nous devrions être des plus actifs dans la recherche de Sa grâce vivifiante, des plus vigilants envers nous-mêmes et plus patients vis-à-vis des chutes des autres. La corruption de leur nature était une racine d'amertume. Nous pouvons voir chez les enfants les débuts de la méchanceté du monde. Ils s'éloignent de Dieu et de leur devoir aussitôt qu'ils le peuvent et s'égarent.

Avec quelle rapidité les jeunes enfants commencent-ils à mentir ! Il est de notre devoir de prendre la peine de les enseigner et par-dessus tout, de prier instamment qu'ils deviennent de nouvelles créatures, converties par la Grâce.

Bien que le « poison » soit déjà présent dès la naissance, il doit être maîtrisé au plus vite pour contrecarrer le mal. Quand les paroles du Seigneur nous paraissent ennuyeuses, c'est alors que le « serpent » devient maléfique. Mais ceux qui refusent d'entendre la sagesse d'en haut périront misérablement, à jamais.
