Au lieu des hommes de Saül (1Samuel 31.6), l'auteur parle ici de toute sa maison ; le transfert de la royauté à David est ainsi mieux motivé.

Il n'est plus question dans notre livre d'Isboseth, bien qu'il ait été mentionné dans les généalogies (9.39 : Eschbaal ; comparez 8.33), de même que les descendants de Jonathan (9.40 et suivants ; comparez 8.34 et suivants).
