Le reste des réchappes d'Amalek : comparez 1Samuel 14.48 ; 15.7 ; 27.8 ; 2Samuel 8.12 ; 1Samuel 30.1-31. Le reste des Amalékites s'était réfugié dans les montagnes de l'Idumée, où les Siméonites les achevèrent.

Les deux expéditions des Siméonites ne furent pas de simples razzias, mais de vraies prises de possession du territoire. Voir les mots jusqu'à ce jour.

Il est curieux de voir des Siméonites s'établir dans le pays d'Edom (verset 42), dans un temps (après Ezéchias) où Edom n'appartenait plus à Juda.
