World English Bible Then Nathan spoke to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, "Haven't you heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith reigns, and David our lord doesn't know it?

11 à 27 Intervention de Nathan et de Bathséba.

La situation était critique. La conspiration, habilement préparée, était sur le point d'éclater. Il importait aux amis de Salomon de l'arrêter dès le début. Nathan, qui avait lui-même annoncé au roi le choix que l'Eternel avait fait de Salomon pour son successeur, était appelé plus que tout autre à agir auprès de David, de qui devait partir la résistance.

Observez l'adresse dont Nathan fit preuve, vis-à-vis de Bath-Shéba : « permets-moi de te donner un conseil, pour sauver ta vie, et celle de ton fils, Salomon ». Tel est le conseil, que proclament les serviteurs de Dieu, en Son Nom, afin de nous donner toute diligence, et que personne ne ravisse notre couronne, Apocalypse 3:11, mais aussi pour que nous sauvions nos vies, et nos âmes de la mort !

David fit une déclaration solennelle, confirmant son ancienne résolution : Salomon sera son successeur. Le fait, pour David, de se remémorer la détresse d'où l'Éternel le tira, le réconforta, renouvela son espérance, et ranima son sens du devoir, malgré le fait qu'il soit à l'approche de la mort.
