L'Eternel ton Dieu. Elle reconnaît que cet homme est un prophète et qu'il est hébreu, et elle jure par le nom, connu d'elle, du Dieu des Hébreux. Habitant près de la frontière, elle avait entendu parler de Jéhova.
Pas un morceau. C'était le dernier moment pour lui demander ce sacrifice et en même temps venir à son secours.
De pain cuit. Le mot ainsi rendu (maôg, de la racine oug, être recourbé ou rond) désigne les gâteaux que l'on cuisait en appliquant la pâte contre les parois intérieures du four ; voir Genèse 18.6, où se trouve le terme ougga, qui est employé dans notre récit au verset 13.
