Vers l'orient, de Samarie.

Kérith, qui est à l'orient du Jourdain. Si cette traduction est exacte, comme nous le pensons, il faut abandonner l'opinion, fort répandue depuis Robinson, que le Kérith est le Wadi Kelt, à l'occident du Jourdain, dans le voisinage de Jéricho. Le Kérith est vraisemblablement le Wadi Adschlun, à l'est du Jourdain, qui est fort encaissé et qui répond bien au sens étymologique du nom de Kérith, qui vient de karath, couper.
