Le silence du peuple est un aveu tacite de la fausseté de sa position : Le bon sens avait parlé par la bouche d'Elie.

Seul est opposé à ces quatre cent cinquante. Le peuple pensait que plus un Dieu a d'adorateurs sur la terre, plus sa puissance est grande et peut se déployer magnifiquement
