World English Bible Ahab said, "By whom?" He said, "Thus says Yahweh, 'By the young men of the princes of the provinces.'" Then he said, "Who shall begin the battle?" He answered, "You."

Par les valets des chefs de provinces. Chaque district du royaume avait son chef, en quelque sorte son préfet, et chacun de ces chefs avait une troupe d'élite sous ses ordres ; ils étaient maintenant tous réunis dans la capitale assiégée. Sous Salomon déjà nous avons vu (4.12) une semblable division du pays en provinces, qui ne tenait pas compte de la division en tribus.

Toi ! Ce mot ne signifie pas qu'Achab doive sortir lui-même à leur tête (verset 21), mais que c'est Israël qui doit attaquer le premier.
