C'est pourquoi, écoute... Si Michée parle de la sorte, en contradiction avec le langage qu'ont tenu les prophètes, c'est qu'il s'est passé là-haut quelque chose qu'Achab ignore. L'Eternel a résolu d'en finir avec lui, et les prophètes qu'il a consultés sont les agents, dont Dieu se sert pour le conduire à sa perte. La vision ici racontée est la représentation dramatique d'un fait moral : D'un côté, Achab a comblé la mesure ; l'heure de son châtiment a sonné ; il sera lui-même, par son aveuglement, l'instrument de sa ruine. Mais, d'autre part, Dieu a encore assez pitié de lui pour lui offrir, par l'avertissement de Michée, le moyen de se sauver.
