L'Eternel a résolu d'en finir avec lui, et les prophètes qu'il a consultés sont les agents, dont Dieu se sert pour le conduire à sa perte. La vision ici racontée est la représentation dramatique d'un fait moral : D'un côté, Achab a comblé la mesure ; l'heure de son châtiment a sonné ; il sera lui-même, par son aveuglement, l'instrument de sa ruine.
