Et un corps de Philistins. Le récit recommence (après l'explication précédente) au point où l'avait laissé le verset 18. L'acte audacieux de Jonathan amena une nouvelle invasion des Philistins qui les conduisit au cœur du pays.

Au passage de Micmas. Il y a dans la vallée de Subeinit un endroit où les deux rochers opposés, l'un situé au nord, l'autre au sud, sont très rapprochés. Les Philistins vinrent sans doute occuper celui du nord, d'où ils dominaient cette partie la plus étroite du défilé.

      2 Saul chose for himself three thousand men of Israel, of which two thousand were with Saul in Michmash and in the Mount of Bethel, and one thousand were with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin: and the rest of the people he sent every man to his tent.
      3 Jonathan struck the garrison of the Philistines that was in Geba: and the Philistines heard of it. Saul blew the trumpet throughout all the land, saying, "Let the Hebrews hear!"
      5 The Philistines assembled themselves together to fight with Israel, thirty thousand chariots, and six thousand horsemen, and people as the sand which is on the seashore in multitude: and they came up, and encamped in Michmash, eastward of Beth Aven.
      23 The garrison of the Philistines went out to the pass of Michmash.

      1 Now it fell on a day, that Jonathan the son of Saul said to the young man who bore his armor, "Come, and let us go over to the Philistines' garrison, that is on the other side." But he didn't tell his father.
      4 Between the passes, by which Jonathan sought to go over to the Philistines' garrison, there was a rocky crag on the one side, and a rocky crag on the other side: and the name of the one was Bozez, and the name of the other Seneh.
