Abigaïl était persuadée que David deviendrait le futur roi d'Israël ; elle avait une estime considérable pour lui, au vu de sa piété et de son excellent caractère. Elle pensait que sa proposition de mariage avec David était tout à fait convenable et avantageuse pour elle, malgré les difficultés qu'elle venait de traverser. Avec une grande humilité, et sans aucun scrupule, selon les coutumes de cette époque, elle s'engagea dans cette demande, voulant partager avec son futur mari, ses joies comme ses épreuves.

Ceux qui s'approchent de Christ, doivent être disposés à souffrir avec Lui, pouvant être persuadés que plus tard, ils régneront avec Lui.
