Son entrée eût été vaine (Grec : "vide"), si elle avait été sans fruits, sans résultats ; (comparez 1Thessaloniciens 3.5 ; Galates 2.2 ; 1Corinthiens 15.10) ou si sa prédication avait été en elle-même sans force, en paroles seulement. (1Thessaloniciens 1.5 ; comparez 1Corinthiens 15.14 ; Ephésiens 5.6)

L'apôtre rappelle aux Thessaloniciens l’objet de sa prédication et de son ministère. (1 Thessaloniciens 2:1-12)
Il les prie de recevoir l'Évangile, la Parole de Dieu. (1 Thessaloniciens 2:13-16)
La joie de l’apôtre au sujet des Thessaloniciens. (1 Thessaloniciens 2:17-20)

L'apôtre ne suivait pas les conceptions de ce monde, dans sa manière de d’émettre ses prédications.

La souffrance pour une bonne cause doit normalement nous faire évoluer vers de saines résolutions. L'Évangile de Christ rencontra beaucoup d'opposition, au début de Sa diffusion ; Il a été prêché au sein de diverses disputes, voire certains combats, rencontrant une forte opposition. Comme les exhortations de l'apôtre Paul étaient pures et pleines de vérité, son discours était sans hypocrisie.

L'Évangile de Christ a été conçu pour anéantir les affections corrompues, pour que les hommes puissent être conduits sous la puissance de la foi. Un prédicateur de l’Évangile ne peut être que sincère quand il considère que Dieu voit non seulement tout ce que nous faisons, mais qu'Il connaît également nos pensées les plus intimes, en sondant notre cœur !

C'est de ce Dieu, qui éprouve notre cœur, que nous devons recevoir notre récompense céleste. Les évidences de sincérité de l'apôtre étaient telles, qu'il a évité le piège de la flatterie ou de la cupidité. Il a évité de tomber dans celui de l'ambition et de toute vaine gloire...
