Il ne faut pas que vous vous laissiez entraîner par les convoitises sensuelles et dominer par les passions déréglées comme ceux qui ne connaissent pas Dieu.

- Les mots passion de convoitise poursuivent l'impureté jusqu'à sa racine, et la font envisager comme une force agissant dans l'homme naturel, et qui doit être combattue pour que la convoitise ne devienne pas passion.

D'autres traduisent : "maladie de convoitise," expression figurée et d'une grande vérité, qui indique tout ce qu'il y a de moralement corrompu, d'insatiable, de capricieux dans les péchés de la chair.
