Nous devons distinguer chez les autres, leurs bons côtés, dignes d’être honorés, pour que nous puissions les exhorter à y abonder de plus en plus.

Tous ceux qui suivent les préceptes divins doivent s'aimer les uns les autres. L'enseignement de l'Esprit surpasse celui des hommes ; ce dernier est souvent vain et inutile, s’il n'est pas « cadré » par celui de Dieu.

Ceux qui abondent dans la Grâce, ont toujours besoin de La faire croître et de persévérer ainsi jusqu'à la fin. Il est très désirable de posséder un tempérament calme et serein, d'avoir un comportement doux et paisible. Le but de Satan est de nous déstabiliser et nous avons, par nature, toutes les prédispositions pour être inquiets ; attachons-nous donc à rester sereins en toutes occasions !

Ceux qui sont toujours agités et qui s’occupent sans cesse des affaires des autres, ont finalement peu de paix au cœur ; ils causent bien souvent de grands problèmes à leur prochain. Ils suivent rarement l'exhortation donnée dans ce texte : être appliqués dans l’exercice de leur devoir et travailler de leurs propres mains.

Le christianisme n’est pas incompatible avec le travail ni avec l’exercice de notre devoir, il nous apprend à nous appliquer dans ce sens. Les déchéances des civilisations sont souvent dues à l’oisiveté, elles sont responsables de nombreux désordres ; ceux, par contre, qui sont appliqués, dans l’exercice de leur devoir, gagnent leur propre pain, en éprouvant ainsi un réel bonheur !
