2 Corinthiens 4.5

Nous ne nous prêchons pas nous-mêmes ; c’est le Christ-Jésus, le Seigneur, que nous prêchons, et nous nous disons vos serviteurs à cause de Jésus.

Grec : "Car ce n'est pas nous-mêmes que nous prêchons, mais Christ Jésus (comme) LE SEIGNEUR, et nous (comme) vos serviteurs."

Cette remarque importante doit confirmer et prouver versets 3,4. Que ce Jésus-Christ, qui est l'image de Dieu, soit de plus en plus connu, et cela comme le Seigneur absolu de tous, appelant tous les hommes au salut par son glorieux Evangile, tel est l'objet de la prédication.

Tous ceux qui ne le prêchent pas purement et exclusivement ; qui mêlent à cette prédication leur sagesse, leurs doctrines, leurs opinions ; qui cherchent leur propre gloire, leurs avantages terrestres, ou annoncent le salut par les œuvres humaines, tous ceux-là se prêchent eux-mêmes, et ne sont pas les serviteurs des Eglises ; ils en sont les maîtres, les tyrans.

Plus Jésus-Christ est exalté, plus l'homme disparaît, et l'inverse. "Il faut qu'il croisse et que je diminue." (Jean 3.30)
