2 Corinthiens 7.15

C'est pourquoi quand il se souvient de l'obéissance de vous tous, et comment vous l'avez reçu avec crainte et tremblement ; son affection pour vous en est beaucoup plus grande.

"Crainte et tremblement" indique la profonde vénération avec laquelle les Corinthiens avaient reçu Tite comme un envoyé de l'apôtre et un envoyé de Dieu. (Comparer Philippiens 2.12 ; Ephésiens 6.5 ; Psaumes 2.11, etc.)

Ce saint respect est un des plus précieux caractères de la piété et de la charité. Il est rare de nos jours entre les chrétiens !
