Cet ordre se rattache évidemment à l'organisation qu'avait introduite le roi Joas (chapitre 12). Les termes mêmes sont entièrement semblables. Pour l'explication des détails, voir à 12.6-16.

Hilkija est mentionné dans 1Chroniques 6.13 parmi les descendants de Lévi. On a voulu à tort en faire le père de Jérémie. Voir introduction à Jérémie. Il n'est connu que par notre passage et la mention des Chroniques.

Ont recueilli du peuple, c'est-à-dire, d'après 2Chroniques 34.9, de Manassé. d'Ephraïm et de tout le reste d'Israël, ainsi que de Juda, Benjamin et Jérusalem.
